East Dulwich Hotel for sale

Just seen a "for sale" sign outside the luxurious East Dulwich Hotel on Upland Road - surely it will be sold as residential properties? It would be a good project for a developer.

Would be a great opportunity to create some really nice guestrooms and fill the "where can my visiting relatives/friends stay" void. But my money is on developer, rip it down, new build townhouses/flats.

it sold for relative peanuts a few years back - it'll best be reconverted back into a vic terrace theres maybe 5 houses there

I like the idea of these neighbourhood "microtels" but not sure how much business it would get during the week.

Personally, I think it's a pity it will get converted to houses. It's currently full and provides much needed cheap accomodation and rooms can be rented on a weekly basis - no need for extortionate deposits.It's only being sold as the owner is very ill.

trouble is that would cost 200k ish the cost of which would have to be passed on to clients which defeats jandb's point above.

its what happens when private landlords do the job the council should be doing and still get crap thrown at them.

Surely there are only four houses? 24-30 Upland Road suggests only four, anyway.

yeah it's only 4 houses, so ?500k each... they need a lot of work though, so the ?2m asking price might be pushing it slightly.

ground floor of the hotel was originally a shop. Not really a hotel more of a cheap hostel. Very small rooms
