Nice one Jah, thats a lot of dosh.

I feel my age - at 41 - when I'm out with younger mates and they talk of spending ?100-?200 on a night out which seems to be a regular occurance for them. I can get completely shitfaced for ?50. Maybe ?100+ per night is normal for people without mortgage and kids.

Having said that I, with some friends, spent ?175 each on a meal just before christmas - I guess thats the grown up way to blow a load of money. And even then I was still hungry and had a cornish pasty on the way home. But then it was christmas.

Still prowling the streets after dark Tony? One of my lieutenants said he saw you stealing change from the toll booth on College rd last night. I wouldn't normally mind this type of scallywagery but for christ sake Tony put some clothes on first eh.

It was the tasting menu at Lindsay House - I knew we would top the ?100 mark as once a year we go out and it always does - but although the tasting menu came with wine, one friend thought the restaurant selection was not right for one of the courses !! - hence we bought more wine. The tasting menu with selected wine, one half glass per course, was ?117, before other wine and brandy, coffee etc. I was not too surprised at the final bill, but we will probably do something a little less expensive next year.

The point I was making is that young people seem to be able to do that amount of money on a night out drinking these days, which amazes me, thats where I feel may age, as a homeowner you tend to have to budget for these big nights out, but I guess I've had my time....

Far enough Mick but at ?179 per head...:'(:)

TLS - Isn't it more surprising that people can do a similar amount of money on a night out drinking in west in bars though. At least I get a decent culinary experience for my money.

Fellow forumite Jah spent ?400 on a weekend, just enjoying himself presumably, thats what young people do.

True Mick, its just that ?180 you know what I'm saying and "per head"....

Youth is wasted on the Young we know that, Mick...sigh

If I'm getting pissed in the pub with the lads on a friday, usually the crapitol in fozzy hill but sometimes the Bishop on LL then I'll usually spend a maximum of ?40 inluding burger and bus home.

Out on the town.

Bottle of Vodka at ?6.50 from sainsburys between two.

2 or 3 jars in the spoons on leicster square ?10.

2 grams of marching powder ?100 shared out between 4=?25 each.

Few bottles of stabalising fluid in the appointed venue, xy amount.

176 night bus home.

?60 to 70 max.

    • I don't know how it works now but my late parents had little money when they were retired (just state pension and they rented their flat) and they used to take their cat to the Blue Cross (In Victoria if I remember correctly) where treatment was free for those who could'nt afford a private vet. I sincerely hope similar is available still because for many elderly their pet is their main source of comfort and company.
    • In a couple of places locally, I have come across this. I am fairly sure that they attempt to do the bill in their head. If you just say , “no, I think it’s x” they start again and get to an agreeable number, or find a calculator. I don’t think it’s a malicious attempt to swindle people. Just not great arithmetic.
    • There are excellent charities like the Greenwich Wildlife Network who will help if you report any concerns with local wildlife. Foxes are wonderful creatures who had been forced into our town and cities and are just doing their best to survive, we should take care of them when we can.
    • Like I thought… prob like that for most of the day.. especially after people had walked their dogs, with friends, relatives  kids…
