I can get completely shitfaced for ?50. Maybe ?100+ per night is normal for people without mortgage and kids.Having said that I, with some friends, spent ?175 each on a meal just before christmas - I guess thats the grown up way to blow a load of money. And even then I was still hungry and had a cornish pasty on the way home. But then it was christmas. Jeremy
Tony.London Suburbs Wrote:-------------------------------------------------------> Seems exorbitant...The Ivy?;-)Doubt it - the Ivy really isn't particularly expensive. Tasting menu (with matching wines) at Le Gavroche or Pied a Terre perhaps? Mick Mac
It was the tasting menu at Lindsay House - I knew we would top the ?100 mark as once a year we go out and it always does - but although the tasting menu came with wine, one friend thought the restaurant selection was not right for one of the courses !! - hence we bought more wine. The tasting menu with selected wine, one half glass per course, was ?117, before other wine and brandy, coffee etc. I was not too surprised at the final bill, but we will probably do something a little less expensive next year. The point I was making is that young people seem to be able to do that amount of money on a night out drinking these days, which amazes me, thats where I feel may age, as a homeowner you tend to have to budget for these big nights out, but I guess I've had my time.... Mick Mac
TLS - Isn't it more surprising that people can do a similar amount of money on a night out drinking in west in bars though. At least I get a decent culinary experience for my money. Fellow forumite Jah spent ?400 on a weekend, just enjoying himself presumably, thats what young people do.
