The Open

9.09am.......Boy Wonder is on the tee.

Have avoided backing Rory this time. I'm guessing on McDowell, Harrington, Villegas and Snedeker.....all on betfair.

But massive expectation from an English point of view, Donald and Westwood would be worthy winners and as I am practically English now, I would cheer them to the rafters....

Is this the betting thread?

I've gone for Watney "He's gonna get one one day" this is my 4th bet in a row on him for a major and at 38 means I've still got another 34 Majors for him to get one to make some money :)) Poor day today

and after some reasonably depth reserach on Betfaier golf forum...2 longshot yanks looking to trade - Davis Love (par today) 190 and Chad Cambell -1 today (sooo nearly -2) 470

I've also done Foster at 1000...........

one of those bets is a lie but James Lawton did tip him as an eaxchway bet in Today's Indie....I hope he had a piece.

Just traded a bit of Campbell at 40s, enough so I'm in profit on all bets and still in for a big win if he wins...letting Davis Love ride as he was only 150 so less room to trade but all my bets are totall freerolls now, still with big potential pay outs...will trade Love if he's still near the top tomorrow night, but a few quid to the good whatever.

...you still doing the lottery Mick?

Rory is about the only player I have not backed. Think the list is now 10, but most missed the cut so have now got Bjorn Campbell and Clarke. Clarke would only cover my losses.

Campbell and Clarke added at half way stage, but Campbell dropped today. He might fire tomorrow, who knows.

Ones I wished I had backed are Johnson and Fowler, they may be big threats tomorrow.

I fear for Clarke, as I backed him to win a major for years only for the pressure to get the better of him any time he was in with a shout - but hes older and wiser now and may be he has a new perspective on life and may get through to the end. I would love to see it.

I wonder if Rickie Fowler will look good value this time tomorrw as he is currently 7-1 ?

Now I have typed it I have to have some of that - dont I ?

PS

ok I have done Rickyyyyyyy now as well at 8.8 on betfair.

Surely I can't lose......

PS - I was at the open yesterday and I have to say, like most other sport, its better on TV. Only horseracing is better to actually attend.

As long as he doesn't wear that white clobber again I don't care...

I agree Mick, I went to the 2001 Open at Carnoustie when Van de Velde famously went into the water, could hardly see a thing with all the crowds, and only realised how dramatic the hole was when watching it on TV later. Still, it was worth it to see Mrs Doubtfire lose his rag while teeing off because someone rustled a Kit Kat wrapper. :)

Yes, along with 'You're the man!'...although I'm really disappointed no one shouted ''RICKAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!''

    • The permission covers two properties, the retail unit and a first floor flat, so it is in part already a residential building. There appears nothing in the documents to suggest change of use, which I don't think would be classed as 'minor' which this is.
    • That's interesting. I assumed it wasn't going to stay as a retail unit, given the years of ongoing work. I assumed it was going to be either an extension to the mosque or a residential building.
    • Brexit - but not simply the act of leaving the EU, as damaging as that is in and of itself But everything around it. - the madness of "taking back control", "they need us more than we need them", the increase in volume and extremity of lies required to get it over the line, the clear denial of reality - all of that has led to the current situation where parties of left and right can win huge majorities and find out the beast of anti-immigration can never be sated the course correction involves acknowledging as a country that we need immigration and lots of it (related: acknowledge we aren't as special case when it comes to asylum and refugees - other countries take proportionally more)  We need to be part of the EU. Climate change in and of itself will see global increase in migrations - we need to be building systems that welcome and accommodate the future - not stick our heads in the sand like hobbits  If we don't collectively agree around this then the descent into authoritarian right-wing madness will continue
