It's all relative - if it was surrounded by likes of St John's Wood, Mayfair and Chelsea some would say SE22 was a ghetto whilst others might counter that it's where real ppl lived..

I lived in Elephant & Castle for 22 years and must say it wasn't that bad. When I go back to visit now though, it feels like a huge prison because I'm now more used to living in Dulwich which has more open space and low rise buildings.

The great thing about London is that if you're a bit bored of ED, try Peckham, Camberwell, Clapham or Richmond (ooh thats posh - drove up from the M3 yesterday).

Travelling to and from New Cross, last night from The Burbs to watch Millwall, I met many Guys from The Elephant and Castle, Walworth Road and Bermondsey...

"Brandon Estate/ Aylesbury/ Aylesbury (again)/ Webber Street / Heygate/ Walworth Road x 2 " etc and then they all went back to Bexley, Welling, Crayford and Dartford....
