At least "At this moment in time" seems to have died a death.

Hmmm, "died a death" ?? Another stupid saying.

Internet sites (predominantly newspapers) that go "oooh, you've scrolled right past my nice video, so I'll float it in a window that covers a quarter of your browser so you can't see much of anything else".

No, I scrolled past your video BECAUSE I DIDN'T WANT TO WATCH YOU STUPID AD-FILLED CRAP VIDEO.

Annoying barstewards.

AND those annoying pop ups that take over the screen and you can't close them, insisting you sign up to the mailing list even when you are already a member!

Would I like to see more? Nope *closes tab

Upon reading a job ad for a basic office role...

"We actively encourage people from a variety of backgrounds with different experiences, skills and stories to join us and influence and develop our working practice. We are particularly keen to hear from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) and disabled candidates"

Not sure what your problem with this is.

People from those groups are probably proportionately under represented in the job so the company is encouraging them to apply.

What has the fact that it's a basic office role got to do with it?

Genuinely interested to know how you define "politically correct" and "over politically correct", and to hear some examples of this labelling which so enrages you.

People who moan about the nanny state and health and safety culture gone mad.

Go back a 100 years and see how many people were maimed or killed in the factories and mills, with little or no compensation and help from the state and the employer.

People who moan about the trade unions.

Need to see the big picture folks!

Oh come on Sue you know what it means. In today's world we're meant to think EQUAL.

No, we are not "meant to think EQUAL", whatever that is supposed to mean. We are supposed to think FAIRLY.

ETA: It is unfair - and also illegal - to discriminate against people applying for jobs based on characteristics unrelated to their ability to do the job, such as their ethnic origin.

And why encouraging people from groups who may be unwilling to apply for a job because they expect to be unfairly discriminated against should cause you irrational rage, I really don't understand.

I'm assuming that you don't fall into any of those groups and have no empathy with jobseekers who do.

It's about finding the best person for the job. Full stop.

Lead item in local Conservative 'newsletter' that came through my door today re quietway works at DV: 'Months of disruption ahead'. That's ONE MONTH after work actually started and nearly TWO after works schedules first came through the door, apparently before the decision had actually been ratified. Apart from criticising Sadiq Khan, it seems the local Conservative councillors have done very little.

It's called 'InTouch', the newsletter. Ironically.

Sadly, these days it is a necessary evil. It's to stop online bots from creating accounts and spamming.

    • I always like Redemptions coffee though I've not visted for awhile..Romeo Jones was always my 1st choice for takeout Coffee Redemption 2nd. What IS with all these independent Yoga and Pilates Studios? Theres one on London Rd in Forest Hill (Mind) thats recently opened and then theres the Pilates place thats opened on North X Road. I looked at the prices of the one on NorthX road and was frankly shocked at how expensive it is, The FH one is slightly less.  Made me decide to stick with classes in The local authority gym
    • Dulwich Village update: The old DVillage location is (again?) under offer. The storefront next to the new grocer is going to open as a yoga and pilates studio...the name of which I've forgotten. 🤦‍♂️  Megan's is starting to push its takeaway coffee and cannibalise some of Redemption Coffee's market share. Is Megan's struggling? It's quite a big restaurant they have and rent cant be cheap. The reinventing of the Megan's branch on Lordship Lane as Ollie's seems to have stalled. And Redemption is looking a bit tired these days...
