Kissing on the cheek as way of greeting people you dont know. Had a presentation at work today. 50 men and two women. That was alot of kissing. I hate it. Its flu season!! In my country of origin we shake hands. All this kissing is way out of my comfort zone. Uurgh

Don't fret pet. Remind yourself that despite the pseudo-intellectual bollox, at the end of the day your vote counts the same as theirs ;-)

Yeah, pub quizzes. Dirty South got it right in his blog:

"Quiz Night? If I?d wanted to have people shout questions at me from another room I?d have stayed at home with the family. Pubs are for chatting, for meeting strangers. Pubs are for jokes, for taking the mick, for discovering stuff you?d forgotten, to recover from work, to put your life in order, to share problems and ideas. They are to set yourself adrift on the ebb and flow of subjects, for the concatenation of dreams.

But no, you?re stuck in a room with 40 know-it-alls who need an excuse to go to a pub and then when they do get in one, sit there in silence trying to remember sh*t. ?Don?t talk to Seb, he?s trying to remember all the venues of the Winter Olympics since 1924.?"

.... and people who insist on standing between the front door and the stairs on the bus, even though the top deck is half empty. "I'll just stop as soon as I have got both feet on the bus, I'm sure none of those queuing behind me had any interest in getting on, they're probably just taking in the sights and sounds of the bus stop".

Whilst I do know exactly what you and RD mean, I have to say the biggest load of bollocks I've read on that thread was this from you AqM.

"Obviously nobody in ED is poor, sick, young, unemployed or disabled, so live on a different planet to those that are."

Before going on to suggest that everyone is eating out every night.

You missed the point there Otta. It was a sarcastic response because I asked a question and didn't get any sensible answers. And you've missed the exclamation marks off the eating out comment. Again, it was supposed to be a sarcastic attempt at humour.

I hadn't actually finished. I would've continued but as you can see by my post in this thread, it got to the stage where I had no idea what they were on about so I left.

Your comment wasn't much help either!

I think the question meant anyone responding would reveal too much of themselves AqM - if they were indeed "poor, sick, young, unemployed or disabled" they might not wish to reveal the fact lest they be judged by the 'rich, healthy, middle-aged, working able-bodied' types that haunt this place.

It isn't easy being young.
