I look forward to training you soon!

I would like to recommend particularly the Sunday family boxing class with Simone at Mind over Matter. I've been going with hubby and 2 kids (7 and 10) and we have really enjoyed it. It's fantastic to be able to take up a new activity as a family for a change, and Simone is so warm and welcoming that its really accessible. The atmosphere is great, not too full on for the kids but encouraging for all of us - even my usually exercise-shy 10 year old daughter has got into it. In fact there are more girls than boys - and more mums than dads most weeks - I think we need some more dads and boys to join us!

I also do the Monday evening women's class with Simone and occasional 1-2-1 sessions with her and she is just brilliant. I've finally got fit again in my 40's after having kids.

Would also like to add a recommendation for Simone's classes. Have mainly been attending the mummies classes on Mondays and Wednesdays, with my 2 children aged currently 2 and 9 months.

Being a mum herself, Simone is really understanding if you need to stop to see to your child. However, you will definitely leave feeling like you've had a proper work-out and its the best exercise class ive found which ive been able to bring children to.

Everyone in the class is really friendly and although it's a great work-out doesn't feel overly competitive. Would definitely recommend giving it a go if considering. Never thought I'd go to regular boxing classes, but have enjoyed so much more than other exercise classes ive attended over the years!

I highly recommend Simone's classes - I've never boxed before but absolutely love this approach to getting fit and releasing some stress! It's great you can do the family class if you have kids as well as without. Simone's an excellent and patient instructor (albeit makes you work hard and you certainly feel like you've had a work out by the time you leave!). Took my 9 year old daughter to today's class and she also loved it!
I've been training with Simone since January and I couldn't recommend her highly enough! Training in a relaxed environment where, don't get me wrong, you are seriously pushed! But nothing past your limit! I've noticed my fitness levels have improved hugely and if I could I would definitely train more than once a week with her! The great thing is as well is you can split the cost of pt sessions to make it much more affordable whilst getting the same level of training as if you were by yourself! I would never use the money I spent at Simones training sessions if I spent it at an expensive gym so it's worth every penny and more!

Simone's classes are great, really informal and welcoming but she also makes sure you work hard! We go to the Sunday family class whenever we can with our 5 year old and it's brilliant to be able to excercise together as a family. It's fun and so much nicer than taking turns to go to the gym. Our son either joins in with the class, watches films on the iPad, or plays with the other kids, or a bit of each, as the mood takes him.

The Monday and Wednesday daytime classes are also great and work well with babies/toddlers/kids of any age - during school holidays the older kids sometimes come too and Simone makes sure the class works for whoever is there. I really recommend Simone's classes. (And for anyone worried about the boxing aspect of it - a lot of the excercises are about general fitness and for the boxing bits you use punching pads or bags - you work in pairs and take turns holding the pads for each other so by the end of a class your arms will definitely ache but nobody will actually punch you!)

I want to add my recommendation for Simone's classes. It's an amazing workout with a friendly bunch of people. You owe it to yourself to try a class!

I've been training with Simone over 4.5 years now. I started her Women's Boxing class when my first child turned 1. I started on the Family Boxing class after having my 2nd, though sometimes I do the Women's class or a Group PT session - when I can arrange for some non-kiddie time, that is.

It's way better than a gym membership and you can save lots by purchasing a block of classes. Give it a try!

    • If the local archive doesn't suffice there's also the London Archives. I remember using what was then called the London Metropolian archive some years ago, and viewing Street Directories among other things  there. https://www.thelondonarchives.org/your-research/research-guides
    • You've sent me down a rabbit hole here! According to the 1909/10 street directory, 10 Whateley Road was the address for John Gibson, beer retailer.   He was born about 1860 in Walworth and his father, also called John, was a beer retailer as well. By the time of the 1891 census, John Gibson Junior had moved to 10 Whateley Road and described himself as a beer house manager. He was married to Margaret and had a son and a daughter. John and Margaret were still living at the address 30 years later when he described himself as a beer retailer. His mother's name was Charlotte Sarah and there is an entry from the same street directory as above for someone by that name described as a beer and wine retailer at 42 North Cross Road. This was most likely his mother, now described as a widow.   Hoping this is of interest.
    • A long overdue review for Niko who we have used a number of times over the years, sometimes to properly finish a job that other plumbers have not done properly. He thinks of everything! I only ever use another plumber if it's urgent and Niko is away. A really kind and thoughtful man and totally trustworthy

The coding session would be good but you need to book well in advance. Also grandson has been doing coding since 6 years old. He now has a 'mentoring role' at his primary school as his knowledge of this subject is years above his chronological age. Dates are still up in the air as their father is trying to juggle leave from a new job in the north of the country.
