What's opening on East Dulwich Road/new restaurant?

I have seen work being done on the shop a couple along from Aneto Cafe on the parade of shops on East Dulwich Road - does anyone know what it is set to become? Looks like a restaurant (crosses fingers).

I hate ice cream vans, they pollute the air near playgrounds and they target obese children. I hope the one on Adys Road packs in.

Only thing I dislike about Ice Cream vans is they sell crap Ice Cream.

Yeah the "mr whippy" type stuff (made from water and powdered ice-cream mix) isn't exactly the best ice cream. But kids like it and it's not expensive.

You can get it in purple sweet potato flavour in Japan.. yuck..

I completely agree. Ice cream vans sell rubbish ice cream. (I spent my first 25 years in Italy) There do not seem to be many small start up companys selling "home" made ice cream from vans.

I have been told that the "you want a flake on this" style vans would drive them out from every park straight away.

The best ice cream I've (still) ever had was from a small cart which used to be on Tooting Bec Common at weekends, must have been in the early sixties. I guess it was Italian. We used to get one after going swimming in the lido.

Absolutely delicious - real vanilla, and sort of grainy. Never found anything like it since. My mouth is watering just thinking about it :)

Though my own home made ice cream is pretty good, though I say it myself :))
