iPod repair?

Looking for someone who knows about fixing iPods (a nano 6th gen). The screen got smashed so ordered a new screen and tried to fit it (as per youtube videos) but now doesn't seem to be working at all. May just be because the new screen isn't fitted tight. Have another new screen and the various tools but could do with some help from someone who knows what the heck is going on! Don't want to pay an extortionate amount (as places like iSmash charge). Just some reasonable help if its out there! Thanks.
