I don't particularly care if he is there, I was wondering why someone who supposedly didn't have anything to do with the Bishop anymore would still leave his dog there to be looked after by bar staff.

I can't see much of a change in there.

The service was very tired and the bar was dirty and not being to busy with enough staff to make sure the service was good and it to have been clean.

I think the staff needs a good shake up and it needed to look a little bit different not just a good clean up

Sorry not much of a change

Are you kidding? They've changed everything! Floors, walls, colours, furniture, everything! The filthy dirty dark pub has gone. The windows now open so it was nice and cool inside. They've a cool massive mirror behind the bar with beer taps in and they've thankfully done something about those foul men's toilets! Maybe your just not a very observant person! Credit where it's due, they've done a great job & I thought the staff were great!

Yes I can very much see there had been a refurb

But not very cool and trendy nor quirky design is it

I also couldn't see that it was very much brighter but yes the air conditioning was working much better

The pictures were naff the colour was naff and as I said staff were not smiling and not happy to be working

And again as I said before the bar was dirty and standing there for at least 30 mins with a terrible glass of white wine

Which I couldn't even drink it as it was that bad

  • 1 month later...

I revisited The Bishop last night after a personal invite from the assistant manager to come and see

what they had done to the place as I had not been in for quite a while.

I have to admit the place is unrecognisable to the old Bishop.. The high window tables which I personally

disliked have gone.. The lighting has vastly been improved giving a much more pleasant ambiance.

The loud music has been turned/toned down.. and the usual rowdy mob of Jaeger Bomb drinking idiots were not

in evidence.

The biggest improvement are the loos... wish have now been completely refurbished to a VERY high standard.

The old loos were dreadful.

I was in there late and never got a chance to sample the food or see the menu..

Would definitely consider sampling the food there at a later date.

    • There’s a couple of Gov petitions going on in relation to fireworks at the moment but this one is for banning them entirely except organised displays if anyone wants to sign. This is the only sensible way forward in my view. No one should be able to let them off in gardens or anywhere like that, it’s crazy. I am surprised some of you have said it hasn’t been as bad this year. I live near DKH Saino and it’s been absolutely terrible my way for days. This petition gained about 20,000 just in the last day or so so clearly the appetite is there! https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/732559
    • I'd have thought they could use some of  their income from hiring out a large part of Brockwell Park in the summer (therefore, as I understand it, preventing local residents from using much of it) to put on a firework display there  in the autumn which might somewhat make up to those residents for the previous loss of use of the park. And also generate goodwill.

Care to share with the rest of us where  your particular interest in libraries comes from? Do you work in one of them?
