Louise_mckenna
Last night I saw a small, very skinny and emaciated black cat on Northcross road. He was walking quite slowly, and as I stroked him I was shocked at how skinnny he was. His fur was scruffy too - he didnt look in good shape. So I picked him up and took him home. When I got him back I fed him but he just wouldn't settle and was getting more and more agitated at being inside. So although I really wanted to keep him in and take him to Battersea in the morning, I had to let him out.We sat outside and watched him, and he would explore a little and then come back to our front garden but wouldn't come into the house. So if anyone is missing a young black cat, he is probably still around Crystal Palace Road (by the Castle pub and corner shop). I would say he has been missing a while as he is very thin and scruffy looking. bluntlaser
Pommie - Please don't say that about Battersea. I was a volunteer at Battersea (from 2007-2008) working with the cats and their policy is not to put a healthy cat to sleep. They never put a cat to sleep unless the cat is seriously ill. Fortunately most cats get rehomed quickly but there are some that have been there for a long, long time and they wouldn't put the cat down just because no one rehomes it quickly! In regards to when a cat is found, on calling Battersea they will take the cat, check for a microchip and also hold the cat for several weeks in case an owner in that time comes forward before they are put the cat forward for rehoming. Whilst I was there many were reunited with their owner. :) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/6098-is-anyone-missing-a-young-black-cat/#findComment-195802 Share on other sites

mazza7103
sounds like a cat my flat mate has christened 'Skanky Cat'. he comes through out cat flap and eats our cats food. my flat mate called celia hammond and they told us to capture him. unfortunately thats not possible as we have to let our cats out. if you can catch him they will come by and get him a new home Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/6098-is-anyone-missing-a-young-black-cat/#findComment-195853 Share on other sites
DeptfordDiva
Mazza it may not be the same cat as this one sounds very friendly, are you saying you cant touch the one that comes to you? If you can't touch him it sounds like he will need to be trapped. Siduhe
Don't suppose the cat has a small white patch on his chest? Doesn't sound like it's the same cat from your description, but thought I would mention.http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?20,260100,260100#msg-260100 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/6098-is-anyone-missing-a-young-black-cat/#findComment-195872 Share on other sites

I got my cat from Battersea and the thriving Feline Alley is the best place for a lost animal. Our cat was taken there as a stray originally. Louise_mckenna
The cat didn't have a white patch, he was completely black. This cat took a bit of coaxing to let me stroke him, but was fine after a little while. He just did not want to be inside and was jumping at the windows to try and escape. As it was 10 at night I couldn't call anyone, and I couldn't keep him in as he was so agitated.I just hope he is ok. I look out for him, but I've not seen him since. youngnewbie_newbie88
i think this is my nan and grandads cat as we live on crystal palace road (the lower side).....he's black and really skinny. very friendly, and has a HUGE appetite. hE EATS FOUR SACHETS A DAY!! (ham included) Due to a thyroid problem he does not gain alot of weight, but I assure you he has regular vet visits and jabs. He has survived a serious car accident where he was found by a young lady who bought him to celia hammond. He was missing for about 5 days when we started asking around. Our neighbour then pointed us in the direction of celia hammond. He is very old, born in 1995..so I think that considering all that he has been through, he's quite a fine kitty..:) oh, and he does not wear a collar because my nan thinks he will got caught up and tree...and hang himself...(?) I assure you he's fit and well, he wakes me up every morning to feed him, and then i play with him in the passage...:) his fur has always been ruffled...and he has always been slim....and his name's Panther :))So please...no capturing...! Thanks for everybodys concern though, oh and he was out late because...well....he needed the loo, and being an old geezer, he just cant hold it in!! youngnewbie_newbie88
sure, here's a pic of him i took this morning after some felix...:) i cant get one close up of his face because he's a bit camera shy..>:D Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/6098-is-anyone-missing-a-young-black-cat/#findComment-201193 Share on other sites
Louise_mckenna
It does sound like the cat I found, but from that pic this cat looks a lot healthier (more weight, sleek fur etc). Although it was a while ago when I saw him so he could have put on some weight. Plus I found him on the road behind the Palmerston, not on CPR, which is a fair way for an old cat with health problems to go I would have thought. But I hope it's the same cat as it's a nice happy ending, I was very worried about the little thing.
