the constant noise is driving me insane . Sometimes it's 2 or 3 at the same time . I know it's London and I suppose I've become inured to the airoplanes ,sirens etc but not this incessant high pitched whine .

couldn't we co ordinate and have the odd strimmer free day ?

Strimmers are a pain on a summers day... especially petrol ones...

... A 2 stroke strimmer gives out around 95 to 110 decibels so hearing protection needs to be worn

Also with all the grass cuttings and dust for anyone nearby who suffers with Hay-Fever it can be very unpleasant.

Very anti social ..

Sadly, grass grows :)

Very quickly at this time of year :(

I guess that's why people have paving, decking and bloody astroturf.

Personally I'd rather hear a strimmer outside than loud music, people in the same garden having a conversation by apparently shouting to each other or, as recently, piercing recorder "playing" from someone who couldn't play it.

Yeh I know, grumpy old woman.

"Sadly, grass grows "

The thing is ,once the expanse of overgrown grass is strimmed couldn't a lawn mower be used to keep the grass down ?

It's the high pitched whine ( rising even above that of my own voice ) that I can't stand and the use of strimmers in plots near me seem to have replaced lawn mowers .

I'm all for children learning instruments, but preferably not at top volume in the garden.

And I believe this was an adult :(

ETA: If I believed in karma, which I don't, I might think this was retribution for my learning the melodeon. But at least I don't play it very badly in the garden :))

    • I had lots of books to donate to the HH Oxfam bookshop a few months ago.                I phoned them, and they told me I could drive to the rear of the shop, where parking is easy.  They gave me directions, and came out to meet me when I arrived.  They were very helpful, and grateful for the donation. So it's definitely worth ringing them!
    • Called Tessa Jowell GP Surgery today after failing to get two repeat prescriptions from the pharmacy.  When I asked the pharmacy, I was told that they had been requested but not sent by the surgery.  After speaking to the surgery I was told that those two items were no longer on my repeat prescriptions.  I was told I would need a prescription review. Earliest date would be the 22 September.  That is utterly ridiculous.  Surely someone from the surgery should have contacted me to tell me this after requesting the repeat prescriptions two weeks ago.    Also, apparently, there is no point sending an email regarding prescriptions as they are not actioned nor replied to as I have discovered.
    • Erm... guessing it's like any service... so you can receive/be part of something relevant to you in the area where you happen to reside. You don't have to sign up but you might miss out on an excellent Tesco offer or two. 🤷‍♀️
