Hello there,

Thought I would share an experience with you lovely ED people.

A couple of weeks ago, I noticed my dog limping after his walk, and first thing in the morning, he is an 8 year old boxer, and I thought it was just old man hip or something, but I took him to the vet anyway. They said his knee is injured and needs to see a specialist, so we went to see him (Kydd & Kydd in Wimbledon, can't praise them enough) it turns out my pooch has a badly injured knee, a ruptured ligament, and needs an operation.

Well me and my dog are quite close! I mean, he has been a step behind me every day since he was 10 weeks old. I was gutted that he was going to have to go through this. I was a mess, the dog didn't seem that bothered when I told him about it!

So he came home yesterday after the operation, there were some complications but it all worked out ok, he has a new Bionic knee (time will tell if he can jump over houses and run at 60 miles an hour!), and is generally feeling very sorry for himself, a bit sore, although I think he is enjoying the bacon, grilled chicken, pigs ears and sympathy. For him it must have been so confusing, for us, well I've hardly slept and have been more anxious than I would probably admit in public!

The point I want to make is, that in total, including post op vet visits and physio, this will have cost close to ?5000. Since he was a pup I have paid my ?16 a month for pet insurance, and now, it is all dealt with, my pet insurance have agreed to pay the vet direct, it is all done, he is fixed (ish) and I don't have to worry about the money. What would I have done if he wasn't insured? It is such a relief to know he is getting good treatment, and I don't have to worry about the financial side of it, I just have to think about getting him better.

for those of you thinking "Christ it's just a dog!" You're absolutely right, but he's my dog..

The moral of the story. Vet bills bad. Pet insurance good..!

    • I had a similar experience a few years ago when a relative said she had seen a letter that I had sent to a solicitor come up on her iPad.  I don't have any apple devices so it can't have been that our devices were synched.  I tried to find the document on her iPad shortly after and couldn't find it again.  It was very odd and we never got to the bottom of it so if anyone can explain it, I'd be really interested too.
    • Hi, I 'd like to recommend H. Ozturk Roofing Services.  Huseyin has done some excellent work for me repairing lead work, guttering, mortar and missing tiles etc.  He always takes the time to listen to what the problem is and carries out the repairs to a high standard.  He is very professional, polite, arrives on time and cleans up afterwards. I highly recommend him.
    • Old thread i know but just wanted to say that we have taken our youngest son out of Charter East now as he was so unhappy, nose diving academically, finding it hard to make positive connections and as a family we just could not watch his self esteem plummet any further. We decide to opt for homeschooling via Minerva MVA online academy. It's pretty positive so far and early days but we are hugely relieved to be out of what had for us become a toxic system.
