hopefully the SLP will answer regards their full side.My gut instinct is they'll be one or two short.

So could be 8 a side, limited overs (20ish) make sure everyone gets a bat, total cross section of ability.

I've met Jimmy is bringing pads, ball, gloves, and hopefully SLP will bring some stuff too.

You lot have rightly guessed we're also struggling - surprise, surprise. We've got nine but are trying to rustle up a couple more.

As I was reading this though I realised we're playing on a small pitch so it might be better if bother teams were short anyway - so don't worry too much.

Also,

We've got a new ball we could use - it's only a cheap one though.

And as far as the format, we were thinking a 40-over match. Our batsmen will retire on 50 - in the unlikely event any of us get there - but it is up to you whether you want to do that. We find it means everyone gets a bat. The limit on bowlers could be 8 overs?

The weather forecast isn't good but I'm sure it'll be ok and we'll manage to play.

Well. Not as bas as I was expecting. We managed to get nine together against their full complement.

Thanks again to Ive Met Jimmy and PeckhamBoy for coming through with stuff and lifts.

Nice one to Jason, Keef and especially Fear&Boozing for well, for getting out of bed on the latter. And of course thanks to Tom, Leon and pals for providing sporting opposition and extra fielding duties to make up our numbers.

It was a grey day, but the rain pretty much held off and we got a 30 overs match completed.

The press boys opted to bat first and gave us a total of 170 to win, with Fear's caught and bowled a nice end to the innings.

We started brightly with Jason clearly preferring boundaries to all that running malarkey, but after his wicket went we suffered something of a middle order collapse. Peckham Boy and I've Met Jimmy put together a good last man partnership but it wasn't quite enough.

I think we fell a little under 40 short of the runs needed.

Back to the CPT for drinks and a grand day out all round.

The SLP boys seem keen to make it a regular fixture so plenty of warning next year so you can book that saturday afternoon off.

Hey Piers stop trying to big yourself up - we only had nine too!

Thanks for the match Forumites it was a good 'un and we all enjoyed it a lot.

The pitch was a bit dodge - there was some seriously unpredictable bounce - but I'm relieved we were fairly evenly matched in terms of abilty.

Also, if any of you want to play you can moonlight for our team because we're desperate for new players. And yes, it was a bit close at the end and we were beginning to worry. If you'd've had 11 you probably would have won.

    • Ohh dear.  Fireworks can be great fun.  Where I used to live the kids would have firework wars/games.  Watching them was more enjoyable than watching  TV. (Which you could hardly hear due to the pops and bangs).  It's not like anyone/anything could stop them. I would still prefer organised public displays that are affordable.   And I agree that fireworks cause problems for wild life, pets and people.   It seems to be one of those things that just happens so we have to put up with it.  But it is still not as problematic here as in other areas in London - that's for sure.
    • I made sure to set off a few today just to rile you guys up 😇😂 Always looking for something to criticise
    • Ugly...maybe..does it bother me..NO! I think its somehow reassuring to see theres still phoneboxes around. East Dulwich may well be getrified but there may well be some elderly people who don't have mobiles and kids who may have lost theirs adults ditto etc etc. I'd rather keep it than lose it...just because i don't use it does'nt mean its not needed.  there are many eyesores in the modern world not all of them as potentially useful.
    • I strongly recommend Balayage salon in Lordship lane as everytime I visit, they make me feel very spicial with thier profisionalism and care.   I have been going there for the last 10 years maybe more, and will never exchange them for any other. They are profisional, welcoming and they also always have an offer. I feel like a new woman every time. X
