I wonder how it would run giving the ending of the last series. There was certainly scope for another series, not sure about a film though. I suppose it would have to be a 'stand alone' rather than a continuation of the series.

Not sure about this one.

Though if it means that b*stard Paulie Walnuts getting whacked then I'm all for it.

Really grew to dislike him after he killed his old mum's mate. And his behaviour to her after he found out she was his aunt was utterly despicable.

I don't know BBW, he seemed to be pretty cunning when it came to forming alliances and looking after number one.

Remember all the crap he caused after he revealed the banter about Jeannie Sac's bottom?

He was an operator and no mistake.

Though I think he was thought by the others not to be the sharpest knife in the box.

One of my favourite exchanges was between him and Ralphie.

The crew is seated outside a cafe, they are awaiting Ralphie so that a financial dispute that's been simmering between the two can be mediated by Tony. Eventually Ralphie shows up.

Paulie - You're late.

Ralphie - OK, tomorrow I'll be on time but you'll still be stoopid.

I think my favourite scene with him was when they're discussing another member of the crew's alarming weight loss and Silvio raised the possibility that it could be the wasting symptom of the AID's virus. Whilst they loudly raise and question each others reaction to this insight Paulie is then seen vigorously washing his hands whilst looking sternly into the mirror as he was the last one to shake hands with the man in question.

I also heard about this sometime after the last episode. I read that it would be based around the rise of the Jersey family and with Johnny Boy Soprano and a much younger Uncle Junior as the central characters.

Without using the key characters and actors that made the series so good (especially Dominic Chianese as Uncle June) it sounds like it has the potential to be 2 and a half hours of epic fail.

I too heard it may involve Tony's dad, Johnny Boy and Uncle Junior. I suppose it could also show Tony as an up and coming made guy and then how he got to be a capo.James Gandolfini would have to lose a hell of a lot of weight to carry this off though. With regards to Paulie, he always had some of the best lines and he was probably the most loyal to Tony in the end (along with Sylvio).
I did also read somewhere that David Chase had considered a film about the young Tony but the problem was finding someone to play the part. Tony is such a big personality and force of nature that it would be very difficult to find a convincing actor to play him as a young up and coming wiseguy.

Yes, there were quite a few, usually linked to his therapy sessions and often involving violence and meat.

Although they were interesting and served a purpose, I would find it hard to imagine anyone else as Uncle June or, indeed, Tony himself, even as younger versions of these characters.

Imagine somebody trying to do a decent impression of Silvio's downturned pouty face and that shrug?

I think it worked in Star Trek quite well, but this could be attributed to the distance between the original series and the new film, as well as good quality acting. Plus I don't think the original star trek characters had the same depth as Tony Soprano's character. It would be a tough call for any young character actor to pull off. Not forgetting the same trick would have to be performed on Paulie, Sylv, Carmella etc.

    • Because the previous Libdem/Tory coalition council did so much better? ....Oh wait. Selling off the Heygate at a bargain price and reducing the number of council homes it replaced? Being in opposition is so much easier isn't it James.  The point on allowances etc is a valid one, and that is about finding the right balance between the responsibility of those cabinet roles and the role of service that should underpin all political aspirations in an ideal world. Holding down a full time job, while having to attend meetings and then deal with case work on top, is a huge ask imo. People in key roles need to have the time needed to do those roles effectively, so some renumeration makes sense. It's just a question of where the balance should be. McAsh has walked away from that, so his convictions are doing more talking than careerism arguably.  Worth pointing out that most MPs started out as party/ political activists/ campaigners on a local level. Different parties have different processes for selecting candidates, but everyone starts out at a low level.

    • Cleaning in East Dulwich and the surrounding areas for well over a decade, we've worked hard to always provide great cleaning and reliable cleaners. We pride ourselves on delivering a high-quality cleaning service and making sure the cleaners turn up when you need and want them to. Our growth has mainly been by recommendations on the Forum, local Facebook pages and clients recommending us to their neighbours on street WhatsApp groups. We know it can be hard to trust someone to come into your home, many times when you're not there, so we only use cleaners that we know and have been checked, trained and are happy to be supervised by us. Accidents can happen so we're fully insured to cover any and all situations that may arise. On top of cleaning we can do additional tasks such as managing washing, ironing, bed changes and oven cleans. Plus working with local partners we can arrange window cleaning and carpet cleans for you. So if you want to come home to a clean and tidy place, with the floors cleaned, surfaces dusted, cobwebs removed, dishes washed, cushions plumped, clothes folded, beds made, and the bathroom gleaming, get in touch today! • Hardly! The awning is half hanging off and it looks like it's about to collapse between the two upstairs windows. Looks awful and it's not clear there is construction "going on" there now.
