I stopped watching the British one as I can't stand Alan Sugar any more. The American one seems more exciting and I live in hope that one day I'll overcome the physical impossibilities of that wig that for now simply looks like two pieces of shredded wheat. Is it combed forwards or backwards, left or right?

Don't be a maverick, Howard, people who are mavericks are all tossers.

I would, seriously, disagree with that statement,

The uniqueness, diversity, eccentricity and individuality of people is what makes a Nation so appealling.

It would be a boring place if we all conformed and thought and acted in a similar fashion.

I mean I'm a "maverick" in my eyes and, probably, a "tosser" in the eyes of one or two on here....but thats not because I'm a Maverick:)

Perhaps I should have written, "people who THINK they are mavericks" are all tossers. I don't think anyone could argue with that one. Anyone who thinks they are dangerous/ original/ cool/ quirky/ maverick is almost 99% guaranteed not to be.

I once actually met someone whose first name was Maverick. I don't know what his parents were thinking, it's like calling a girl Pretty and then she turns out not to be and suffers for the rest of her life as a result. The worst thing was I was introduced to him as a potential love interest with the words "I think you'll really like him", leading me to seriously question my entire sense of being when he (inevitably) turned out to be a massive twit. Within about 20 seconds of meeting him he started pontificating loudly about the movie script he'd written about a heist that goes wrong and seemed oddly offended when I said, "Oh, you mean, exactly like Reservoir Dogs?" (This was about 6 months after the film had come out)

He could not have been less of a maverick if he tried, and I hated him instantly.

    • I have been training at the hub for just over one year. I really enjoy the variety of training offered and the quality of the instructors. Very effective group classes and enjoyable in the open air! A very welcoming place which makes a fitmess journey pleasant!
    • We're are just about to get ready for sale, a 2 bed flat, very close to Peckham Rye park.  It has been rented out for sometime, so is in need of some TLC for it to look its best, before it goes on the market.  Would be interested to know others thoughts on whether its best to just have the place painted completely white throughout, probably with new grey flooring, or if it might be more appealing to add some colour/interest (nothing too drastic), perhaps something alittle 'warmer', with some nice (potentially dark) feature walls maybe? Wondered whether the days of going completely white might now have passed ..... It might be useful to know that its not a period or conversion property, but rather a flat in a private purpose built block.
    • It's a Microsoft . pub file, and it does open OK, but that's a discontinued program which used to be part of the full Office suite. I've got an old machine with old software and it's still on that.  This is a .pdf version (I hope)April 2025 Dulwich Hill Newsletter.pdf
    • Even with Acrobat pro - it does not open even though it is an acrobat doc.   Error: "Adobe Acrobat could not open 'April 2025 Dulwich Hill Newsletter.pub' because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded). To create an Adobe PDF document, go to the source application. Then choose Save as Adobe PDF from the PDF dropdown in the Print dialog."
