The letter M derives its shape from the Phoenician Mem, via the Greek Mu (Μ, μ). Semitic Mem probably originally pictured water. It is known that Semitic people working in Egypt c. 2000 BC borrowed a hieroglyph for Water that was first used for an alveolar nasal (/n/, because of the Egyptian word for Water, "n-t". This same symbol became used for M in Semitic, because their word for water began with that sound.

Enough already with the chocolate, Louisiana. Let the ice cream melt.

If you're going to be Chancellor of the Exchequer then the main 'M' you'll have to know is 'Mr/Madam Speaker...I protest'

Consider yourself admonished.

In advance.

Jesus wept Hona, pull your socks up lad. The first letter in Mott the Hoople is a CAPITAL M not low case. Mr Oblivion would be thoroughly disgusted with you if I were to present him with this evidence. Get a grip man!

    • Hi Busterb, Yesterday I turned up with a scanner & towels, hoping to take a deceased tabby down to TNV. The body was moved moments before arrival & had not been turned in to any vets, rescues or animal hospitals. I am wondering if this could have been the same cat & if someone just tried to move the tabby further away from the road. Please be warned, viewers discretion is advised. but this is what the deceased tabby looked like: https://www.facebook.com/groups/900015513463302/permalink/3729980853800073/  In any case, if you haven't been able to get someone to scan or take down to a vet, I can scan tomorrow morning.
