I've just started to re-read this - having found it hidden under dust at the back of my bookshelves.

In it I noticed that Douglas Adams identified the e-book about 30 years before it became a reality. He also suggested the talking lift (something I abhor) and the bureaucratic mindset of all life forms.

Are there any other perceptive elements to his works?

Yes there are MM. The Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster does indeed get you very very inebriated. I tried one in the 80s and I've only just sobered up.

I remember drinking PGGB's in the early '80's at Plymouth Theatre at a performance of HHGTG.

Good stuff - ours were pink with flames.

I went to a stage version of the HHGTTG at the Rainbow in North London (anyone remember the place - Mr Bob Marley left his mark there once?) - we drank PGGBs from test tubes with dry ice coming from the general area of the bar. I wore an outfit with shoulder-pads and my boyfriend had a Porsche (well you had to).

The Rainbow at Finsbury Park.

Saw many bands there including Deep Purple, good atmosphere.

I was at the Bob Marley concert at the Rainbow (about 7 yrs old at the time).
