Is BBQ allowed in Dulwich Park?

i've just moved to East Dulwich and i really like the area.

i'm thinking to have a bbq in Dulwich park, but not sure if this is allowed?

just don't burn a great hole in the turf by using those 'disposable' BBQs.

Insulate from the ground with at least 2 x bricks thick base or a frame to hold off the ground.

Not only allowed, encouraged. You can sell the barbecue too, you don't need a licence or anything.

If by some chance an officious park official tries giving it laldy and tells you different just make sure you print this page off and wave it under his nose as proof he's wrong.

You can also 'bung' him a free burger, but make sure it's in a sour dough bap with bloody mary ketchup.

It's the only language they understand.

Well technically you could get away with it, see when you place uncooked meat over hot coals you are actually "grilling" & I don't remember seeing a "No Grilling" notice in the Park.

BBQ is the process of cooking with the hot smoke from charcoal or coals.

Oh yes a technicality, but the world is run by "i" dotters & "t" crossers.

For some reason I read the list of rules and regulations when at the park yesterday and no BBQs are not permitted . . . . though as Lozzyloz said there were a fair few folk grilling away.

From what I saw it was for basting purposes but looks like hard work on such a sunny day!
