Pussey Liquor bar new to the Lane

Recommended Posts

I like the idea of the place - rotating residencies and a good wine/drinks list. Would like to try it some time.

The current menu is ?33 for 3 courses, which really isn't particularly high end. But value is in the eye of the beholder, and if a curry/kebab/pizza is more your cup of tea then it's probably not aimed at you (there are plenty of other places that are).

Still hate the name though... it's not too late to change it! Think of it as embracing community feedback.

There's someone called Sazzle who works there - I don't suppose that's you Sazzle30..?

There's no law about putting your name above your shop, so leave them to decide for themselves

As for choice of name, like it or not, that's their choice too

So stop being the regular piloc that you are, and wind your neck in

Thank you

While I can confirm that I suffer from this condition many times a week, I'm not sure it is an officially recognised acronym!

I'm actually shocked that a slightly blue name and a bit of frosted glass can cause such outrage in our modern age. Its london, it's 1932 (apparently).....

It's a restaurant serving food. No creepy guys in macs like the place zebedee used to go to in lewisham. Just nice food, nice drinks, friendly service.

Whats happened to not judging things on first appearance. If you did that about a person you'd be called a fool..

The problem is when you're a restaurant that relies on people going through the door, having a door that no one wants to go through is a problem.

IT's very hard to tell whether you are going to enjoy yourself in Pussey Liquor from the street. The Placement of the menu is awkward, you can't see the space you'll be eating in and the name doesn't give any clue at what to expect.

Let's pretend for a moment the place is called "unicorn binlid" - it would still not be somewhere that i'd be heading into out of curiosity.

The idea is good, unfortunately I feel the execution is lacking at the moment. I wish them much success though, and it's not too late to change.

10 of us celebrated my husband's birthday there not last Friday but the Friday before - Chloe and the other 2 girls are lovely, food was amazing and atmosphere great. So many people have great things to say about this place (we went on recommendation), it's worth giving it a go before you slate it IMO - for whatever reason.

MattC 2885, you think you're a funny man but you're not. Alternatively you have problems with your eyesight or you have difficulty reading (for which my commiserations). Or you are a Daily Mail sub editor. Because I never said that I went to The Private Shop in Lewisham; I said that the chain caused a big fuss in Lewisham many moons ago and that it seemed to be patronised by men wearing dirty macs.

I suppose that you think that the name Pussey Liquor is an example of "adult" humour. IMHO it's puerile and the sort of thing 15 year old boys or men with an emotional age of 15 think is funny.

    • Anyone upgraded their TV for Christmas?! I'm looking for a smallish Smart TV I can use with earbuds. Not more than 56cm high and  25cm deep. A 26" one used to fit.  Thanks!
    • It wasn't an antique and bric-a-bac shop but an antique market with a number of different traders, the cafe supported all the dealers in bringing in custom, and was good enough to generate trade for them. It was Rodney Franklin's and his partners enterprise, he previously had an antique shop in Queenstown Road in Battersea. His late wife ran the cafe (she was a very fine actress, it was a 'resting' job).  It was on the corner of a junction on the left as you head towards Camberwell. And almost opposite, if memory serves at all, an MFI style furniture outlet.
    • i used to go there in the late 80's and '90s (?) the food was served cafeteria style and there was limited choice, but what there was alays tasted amazing!  The garden was an absolute paradise, you could sit in it to lunch in the summer!  i've tried to locate its site but Walworth Road has changed so much since then - does anyone remember the house number?
    • This is very true. For some people, not even just the elderly, their pet/s may be their most important companion.
