If you will insist on being so curmudgeonly then people are bound to get fed up with it after a while. I'm clearly not alone.

Anyway, back on topic - am going to try it next week and am looking forward to it. I love E.D. & Camberwell and the good choice of independent places to try.

The food is so good there, and the wine list, that quite frankly I don't care what it's called.

Clearly lots of people do though, and that's fine. It's a free country and everyone is entitled to an opinion.

I urge people to get down there and give it a go. Aside from the fact that there really isn't anywhere else like it on Lordship Lane, the meals are prepared with real care and attention, the plates look stunning and taste seriously, seriously good(take a bow Smoke and Salt guys), and anywhere that can get me to drink and actually enjoy a rose wine gets a thumbs up from me!

Best of luck everyone at Platform 1. I will certainly be back.

Sure and the Carry-On films were all designed as children's entertainment I assume?

Are you saying you approached them to make the changes you wanted or that they read your posts on here?

YES

It's a shame they changed the name...... maybe I won't go there now because of it

*flounces*

Only joking!

People I know in the restaurant/ bar industry rarely, if ever, read general reviews as they don't tend to be useful, accurate or representative(see EDF comments from people who have never been to the restaurant etc) and so the name change unlikely to be down to the small number of Mary Whitehouse-esque comments on here.

Anyway, best of luck Platform 1, it sounds great and I look forward to a visit, even if I will now have to get my pussey liquored elsewhere!

Hmmm... yes and no.. all the local restaurants are well aware of the forum and I know for a fact that some of them check on here frequently. But I also know that some of them actively avoid it because they think it's full of nutters, trolls, and self-professed experts ("I once went on holiday in *insert country here* so I know my stuff", etc).

If Mary Whitehouse had attended a number of films and plays that I saw and had read a number of the books that I read when I was younger, she would have had a seizure and demanded that they be banned.

On the other hand, if Bernard Manning and Roy "Chubby" Brown had heard about the name Pussey Liquor, they would have chortled "That's so, so funny - it's a great example of 'adult' humour .... nudge, nudge, wink, wink, say no more!" With friends like them ....

We were there last Saturday and had a great night- really good food and great service.

Whatever people thought of the old name, ultimately it is a group of people trying to make a go of a business, which takes a lot of guts and is no easy thing to do. I find it really weird that anyone would take pleasure from feeling responsible for forcing a name change on somebody in those circumstances but there you go

My advice to anyone on here would be to let the food do the talking and if you were one of those who hated the previous name, please put your pitchforks down and trying giving the place a go

And if your idea of a great meal out on the town is a vindaloo and a bottle of cobra, it simply isn't your kind of place so don't bother

The fact that some Indian Restaurants have been on Lordship Lane for 30-40 years is testament of what the majority

of East Dulwich residents want..

I won't be here in another 40 years. Will Platform 1 still be here ? Realistically ??

Nuvo Cuisine went out of fashion years ago.. I'm not a big eater but I do like a plate of food.

Especially if I'm paying ?30.00

Nah, just another mistaken case of thinking the thread is all about him and that those reading are remotely interested in his ridiculous comparisons with bog standard curry houses & what he perceives to be good value.

Good luck Platform 1. Great name change.

Now that you won't all have to clutch your pearls when you walk past, perhaps this nasty little thread could be retired in favour of one that features helpful, informed reviews from people who have actually eaten there. Personally, I prefer not to try to sabotage local small businesses - I'm really excited to have such an innovative place to eat in the neighbourhood and wish Chloe and her team the best of luck. Long may it reign.

I'm no prude but I found the previous name rather desperate for attention. If the food is good, clientele will follow, no need to alienate people. I've heard great things about the food and now feel comfortable about going now they've got rid of the silly name. Perhaps the name would have worked in Hoxton but in my view came across a bit crass.
