Cheap gym

Hey. Does anyone know of or use a cheap gym in the area? Can't afford PT or Fusion but do need the motivation. Thanks in advance.

Not aware of any cheap gyms in this area, but if you are willing to travel Pure Gym and Gym group are around 15-20 pounds a month.

Pure Gym Bermondsey is easy to get to on the P12, or by walking for 30mins or so. It is ?20 a month and I have found it to be very clean and superbly well equipped.

There's a The Gym half way down the Walworth road that used to be a fitness first. 24 hours I believe.

Another vote for Pure Gym Bermondsey - if you just want a standard range of gym equipment and a clean environment, it does the job.

Flaxmans in Camberwell is very good value.

Prices at Dulwich Health Club (in DHFC) are pretty cheap. It's a basic gym.

How is it that the Council provided gym is more than double the cost of private ones such as Pure Oval / Bemondsey, or Dulwich Health Club? Presumably it is subsidised by our council tax already?

I would also suggest Pure Gym Bermondsey, cheap & cheerful!!

Equipment is pretty good & its always clean.

While I agree that fusion is expensive and currently very poorly run, in terms of facilities and flexibility, it does offer a totally different level of facility to the pure gym type places. This is why I stick with it. Firstly they have a pool, there are no cheap gyms with pools. I can also use all of the fusion leisure centres which with 3 super local (Camberwell, Peckham, Dulwich) means my options in terms of classes are numerous. The cheap gyms do all offer a group exercise program but they appear fairly sparse in comparison. I mostly use fusion for aqua steering classes to the cheap gyms are no use to me. Compared to the fitness firsts and virgin active type options, fusion is actually pretty good value. Well it would be if they sorted the air con and showers out!

You can try pay as you go gym. I've started to use it, as I don't have to sign up for a contract. It's basically a pay as you use website
