BT broadband out?

Anyone else having issues with BT broadband tonight? Not working for us in Hansler Rd...

was out for me yesterday morning, back on in the evening after re-setting router.

Some others too (see my thread moved to the Lounge)

BT as usual denied any problems!

Message on BT.com site yesterday saying the problem had been resolved and to turn off the router from the mains for a few moments then switch back on.

Mine is fine now.

We haven't had wifi since last night :(

BT trying to solve it within 2 working days. ho hum...

Ours was out this morning, but a reset seems to have fixed it.

Yep I was told no fix until Monday - bloody annoying...would have thought they could do better than a 3 day outage.

Same for me. Thursday evening to Monday midnight. No word as to why OTHER than, there is a major outage.

The most likely reason for a major outage which is only effecting some people (my broadband service in Underhill has been working fine) is damage to cable plant - as each 'end' has to be matched with the correct end in the other part of the cable (it's not just like jointing a water or gas pipe) making repairs can be very time consuming. A loss of service could have triggered a fault on exchange equipment - those on the equipment but not directly served by the cable/ plant in question would then probably recover by re-setting their routers (as the exchange equipment itself probably had to be re-set). The appalling weather we have been having will also not have been helping any external plant work to be done.
