I think I've mentioned these on here before, in W and N London. Thinking about doing it myself what with the new kitchen n all. Three tables seating 4, 4, 6, so 14 in total. Two starters, two mains, two puds? Or a single set menu? Byo wine.

This sounds like great fun, so much fun that I might give it ago myself seeing as I've got my new kitchen n all. The biggest spanner in the works is what I'll serve.

I think for my appetiser I'll splash out on a tub of Pringles and a shoplifted bottle of salad cream.

The main course would naturally be a hamper of old M.O.D ration packs from the first Gulf war followed by a serving of Kebab flavoured pot noodles washed down with a glass or two of sparkling White lightning.

Dessert would consist of Hash cakes laced with laxative to ensure more entertaining parlour games for my plastic attempt at a sickening trend of middle class 'Nigellarosis'.

Anyone for cheese?

    • As the meeting, which I did not attend, was moved, as I understand it, to the Alleyn's School Theatre, one of the few venues large enough to take the members attending (the Dog's upstairs room has a capacity only of 100 as I understand it) the cost, or lack of it, of the Dog's room is immaterial. The costs of the meeting would have included costs of communications to members (printing and postage), printed ballot and voting slips etc. Nowadays these costs (particularly postage) are non-trivial. Much of the membership is of an age where digital communications are not always appreciated or even possible. The material (which I have seen) is not ideal for smart phone viewing, and ballot slips need to be real, not virtual. The cost of setting up electronic voting systems would have been far higher than printing ballot papers.
