Horsebox
Petanque at Brockwell PArk, today at 10.30 / 11:00. Triples tournament, ?5 per team, prize for the winners, all welcome.I've given up booze as well, since 1st June. The pub was very boring at first and more expensive to drink non-alcoholic beers / interesting 'posh' soft drinks than to drink ales.(6) but vaguely amusing watching my friends get drunker and drunker.I feel better for it,fresher, sleeping better and have lost a little girth as well.Having said all that, I'm off to France and Spain next week so am going to get right on it as a reward to myself for being so good :)-D Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/6817-ive-given-up-booze-and-am-bored-out-of-my-mind/#findComment-218254 Share on other sites

Marmora Man
Swimming in the sun at Brockwell Lido. You'll get fitter, maybe a tan and might even find an "appropriate" bloke there as a bonus. Keef
I know that I drink too much, but when I think about stopping, life just looks so bleak. This thread has reinforced that, so I'll just keep on drinking. Mick Mac
Legal - why put yourself through that pain? I have tried to give up a few times, but its really very dull. Moderation is best - but I'm pretty poor at that too. Mick Mac
Think about it - drink was invented because life was dull. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/6817-ive-given-up-booze-and-am-bored-out-of-my-mind/#findComment-218294 Share on other sites
LegalEagle-ish
I'm pretty poor at moderation too, so abstinence seems to be the only way to stop the pain of remembering my shit-faced antics the morning after! Keef
I find moderation very hard, if I go to the pub early, I will be there til closing, so I try to think about getting there an hour later, so I start drinking later. If I'm having a drink indoors, I will again empty the fridge, so just have to buy a few, which is annoying, is it's cheaper to buy in bulk, but if it's there, I will drink it. indiepanda
I really should give up drinking... I sure as hell don't need the calories and it would be nice not waking up with a headache on Sunday morning.... but I really can't see it happening somehow. It's only fun if no one else is drinking too. The odd night out 3I've had on antibiotics with enforced sobrietry were kind of tedious. I have been known to drink G&Ts and slip in a straight tonic water when it's come to my round... but that's more to save myself from getting to the vomity stage than anything else. At least I can keep booze in the house without drinking it - chocolate is a different matter....
