Petanque at Brockwell PArk, today at 10.30 / 11:00. Triples tournament, ?5 per team, prize for the winners, all welcome.

I've given up booze as well, since 1st June. The pub was very boring at first and more expensive to drink non-alcoholic beers / interesting 'posh' soft drinks than to drink ales.(6) but vaguely amusing watching my friends get drunker and drunker.

I feel better for it,fresher, sleeping better and have lost a little girth as well.

Having said all that, I'm off to France and Spain next week so am going to get right on it as a reward to myself for being so good :)-D

I find moderation very hard, if I go to the pub early, I will be there til closing, so I try to think about getting there an hour later, so I start drinking later. If I'm having a drink indoors, I will again empty the fridge, so just have to buy a few, which is annoying, is it's cheaper to buy in bulk, but if it's there, I will drink it.

Especially with a slug of vodka

I really should give up drinking... I sure as hell don't need the calories and it would be nice not waking up with a headache on Sunday morning.... but I really can't see it happening somehow. It's only fun if no one else is drinking too. The odd night out 3I've had on antibiotics with enforced sobrietry were kind of tedious.

I have been known to drink G&Ts and slip in a straight tonic water when it's come to my round... but that's more to save myself from getting to the vomity stage than anything else. At least I can keep booze in the house without drinking it - chocolate is a different matter....

    • It didn't occur to me to ask. No idea if dieticians are employed within the NHS. It is just one line of enquiry among others. The GP mentioned it, not me.
    • I thought the most they sell in terms of hot food at londis is like pastries and sausage rolls and for hot drinks its like costa coffee but its always a convenience store. Doesn’t look too bad in my opinion considering that shop has been closed down ever since i moved here
    • Hi Busterb, Yesterday I turned up with a scanner & towels, hoping to take a deceased tabby down to TNV. The body was moved moments before arrival & had not been turned in to any vets, rescues or animal hospitals. I am wondering if this could have been the same cat & if someone just tried to move the tabby further away from the road. Please be warned, viewers discretion is advised. but this is what the deceased tabby looked like: https://www.facebook.com/groups/900015513463302/permalink/3729980853800073/  In any case, if you haven't been able to get someone to scan or take down to a vet, I can scan tomorrow morning.
    • Wholeheartedly recommend Aria. He was polite, responsive and sorted our leak, from an old tap on an old plumbing system, with no bother and on same day.
