I know this is just nature being red in tooth and claw, but my neighbour's cat has bloody gone and terrorised a starling baby bird. Scores of starlings are now screeching about my house. It's unnecessary for a cat to kill for pleasure. Please let your cat wear a bell to try to stop this kind of thing happening. Not sure if the little thing is dazed or bitten and therefore probably infected with deadly bacteria. It's the last thing I need. Nero

Cats should wear bells in order to allow my sound-guided chaingun garden accessory to turn them into a pretty Jackson Pollock of red and pink textured smears.

Huguenot,

in a bid to save the cats of east Dulwich from your felicidic tendencies I implore you to take out your artistic frustrations here instead. You'll need your mouse though;-)

Jackson Pollock

This is a particular bugbear of my husbands', he hates it when he sees cats maiming/killing birds. I remember a few years back when after my then 8 year old hearing one of my husbands rants, knocked next door and told my (snotty) neighbour that they should put a bell on their cat as it was killing our wildlife. She informed him that HER CAT would never commit such an horrendous deed. About a week later we saw her husband take a bird out of said cats mouth and throw it behind their shed!!

It should be law to wear a bell say I!!

Yes I agree completely. And teenage girls should all be made to throw away any clothes that display their toned abdominal areas. Loose fitting polo shirts should be worn by all of them - by law. And men should not ever wear sandals if they have hairey toes...

    • I had this same query the other week - Mediquip no longer cover Southwark and I believe the company when bankrupt? Anyway, after some digging, I found the news on the adult social care page of Southwark Council website.  The new supplier of medical equipment that is issued to Southwark residents via an OT from the council or the NHS is Provide Equipment Hub.  I emailed them about returning two items and they did promptly respond and came and picked up the items the following week.  Email them at [email protected] Importantly, they will come and do urgent repairs of equipment like hospital beds.  I'm surprised that Southwark haven't made this change more widely known as it will impact many vulnerable residents.

    • Hello East Dulwich families 👋 I wanted to introduce myself to the community. I’m a professional family & wedding photographer with 14+ years of experience, and I split my time between the US and London throughout the year. I’ll be based in London for the coming weeks and would love to photograph more local families here in East Dulwich. My approach is very relaxed and natural — no stiff posing, no pressure — just real connection, movement, and the beautiful everyday moments that tell your family’s story. I work especially well with kids and parents who feel “awkward” in front of the camera (which honestly is most of us!). Sessions can take place at home, in the park, on your favourite street, or anywhere that feels meaningful to you. The goal is to create images that feel like your life — not a photoshoot. If anyone has been thinking about documenting this season with their children, I’d love to connect, answer questions, or simply share examples of my work. No pressure at all — just happy to be here and meet some neighbours. You can see my work here: https://bluesparkphotography.com/family/ (use the contact page on the site to send me a message if you're interested!).
