We have just been doing the research on this, the best by far in terms of 7 decent seats, plus a good boot is the new Volvo XC90 - problem is it's new out this year and significantly more expensive than the old model!

Also only has two isofix .......

Smaller boot space (but still decent size) and 6/7 seats being Isofix is the Audi Q7.

The MPV's all lose boot space as soon as the extra seats are up.

Issue we have had is not wanting to move our 4 and 5 year old into a seat only booster. The birth of number 3 has led to a car seat problem - 2 x booster's with backs and a maxi cosi don't fit across the back of most cars :(

Don't know what you are looking to spend....... The best options don't come cheap from what we have seen.

We have 4 kids and have a Ford S Max with roof box. I really like it. We went to Car Giant and compared all the 7-seaters and thought that the S-Max looked and drove the most like a car rather than a van. We have all 7 seats up all the time and can easily get a double buggy in the boot but not much else.

There are isofix points in the 3 Middle row seats but not the back row. The Ford Galaxy gives you more head room in the back but very little extra boot space and it feels like you're driving a van not a car.

When all 4 kids needed help getting in and out of car seats and being strapped in it was hard work accessing the back row. Now that the older 2 can do this on their own it's much easier.

Maybe a Kia Sedona is an option. It's a massive car, even with all seats up there's quite a bit of storage space left. Very strong and reliable, but with a 2.9 liter motor it is not the cheapest to drive. Great and reasonably economic on long distance, expensive in town.

    • To be fair, a pot of tea for one in a department store is a small pot, and you only get one cup or mug!
    • I know - we have been here lots of times since it first opened,  which is why we were disappointed that it was closed at a time it was supposed to be open, but with no notice to say why! I guess we will just  have to ask the reason at our next visit, but I'm not sure we will risk Saturday lunchtime again unless we find the closure  was an unavoidable one off ....
    • Nope. I don’t have this wrong. I’ve tried to put my point across respectfully, without resorting to personal, angry insults. And all my colleagues agree that the BBC got this right in its condemnation.    All you see is confirmation bias.    If you don’t realise that, then you’re part of the problem.
    • We have always gone during the week at lunch time - great place and good value. Husband has been several times on his own and owner knows his first name. I could not go one time for some reason and she sent him home with some spring rolls (free)
