BBC needs to make some new programs.

3 of the top five threads currently are feckin games. If you want to play games then feck off somewhere else.....

And general issues is any better? the whole forum is predictable now. Some of that is to do with it being a decade almost of covering topic after topic multiple times. Posters come and go. None of us are sacred cows. I would argue none of us have ever been that great either, lots of self congratulation going on and dare I say it 'rose tinted' spectacles being worn.

Louisa.

General issues don't generally interest me. Someone next door farted when the wind was blowing in my direction. Who should I dial? No sacred cows, then let?s have a monthly slaughter. Most nominations are publically humiliated and banned for life.

Dulwich Factor. Cast your votes.

Dulwich is getting boring in the lounge. It's the same old dispute she moans about this, he bangs on about that, broken record. I used to be an intimidated bystander on this forum as it was witty, a tad cliquey, but hilarious. Nowadays, I'd rather read the daily mail (jokes).

To be fair, there are several long-running threads in General issues which cover important decisions about local planning, building, roads etc. And I think the admins allow more 'lounge'-type debates in General issues as long as they're close enough to the topic of the thread. Agree about the bloody games in the Lounge though...

Whilst I agree with the sentiment, that is not a new thing. Those bloody threads have always dominated even when the lounge was good.

I am taking this as a direct "piss off".

...and one of the other top 5 is feckin' the football thread which is just as mind numbingly boring to me as they games are to you. Doubt whether endless discussions about a bunch of overpaid tossers has been an influence on the forum for good or bad?

Nope. i'm glad you're still here, besides you're reasonably local, from here AND are in the manor reasonably frequently. What I meant is that it's so poor that i've thought about going but the fact i'm still live here keeps me on. Personally I'd love it if Huge, Moos, SJ, El Pibe, Brendan, etc etc etc were still about but I think they all moved far away long enough ago that i understand why they don't. But Loz and ratty are still on and I'm glad for eg.

Good point. Maybe we could introduce the banter and rivalry that characterises a lot of the Football thread into the other "game" threads.

"Call that a 5 letter word you illiterate Bedwetter!?... Oh, now you're just making up band names just to make the rest of us Google a collection of tone deaf Belgians...No-o-o you idiot! It aint just word association, it's a coded message to the disenfranchised of Fellbrigg Road and spelling 'Kumkwat' like that has completely bollixed it!"

Also "You knob" (applicable to any game plus curry club and the odd chapel of rest post).

    • From memory foxes only became a regular sight in the 90s, the attached article says they first appeared in the 30s becoming far more common in the 80s.  Apparently, whilst we think that urban foxes live longer than rural due to their 'easy' life few will make it over the age of two.  In towns they are far more crowded than their natural habitat where they are more territorial. I've never seen foxes and cats fighting but once saw two cats squaring up to each other and a watching fox went up and butted its head against one of the cats.  There's a video on youtube of a cat and fox facing off when the cat is eating outside, but it wont let me embed on this post.  Get too close and I'll scratch you. https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2022/oct/15/urban-foxes-are-they-fantastic-or-a-growing-menace My main issue is leaving things out like gardening gloves and they go or are shredded.  One stole a bag of bird food in front of me, took it next door, shredded the bag and then left it.
    • I was trying to remember when Franklins moved to Lordship Lane from Walworth Road where it was combined with an antique/bric a brac shop. Mid 1990s, first wave ED gentrification?
    • Hello, I lost a babies blanket between Tessa Jowell and the Picture House on Lordship Lane 😞It is teal colour with the name Cillian embroidered on it.  If anyone sees/finds it please let me know.  Thank you!
    • Good to hear Sue - I  love Franklin’s  Although to be fair it would be a mad world where decades old local institution couldn’t do much better than (gawd help us all) a generic Youngs pub  (I had better meals in that place when it was the vale and ran by the Murphia. And that was fairly poor food even then )
