"I am the way, the truth and the life; No man cometh unto the Father but by me" - Jesus Christ (John 14:6)

Jesus Christ is the son of the living God. "Thou art Christ, the son of the living God" (Matthew 16:16)

He died on the cross sacrificing his blood to pay for our sins, he was buried and he is risen.

"He is not here: For he is risen, as he said. Come see the place where the Lord lay" (Matthew 28:6)

Repent, come to God by faith, realise you are a sinner, we are all sinners.

"For all have sinned, and come short of the Glory of God" (Romans 3:23)

Believe upon the Lord Jesus Christ, believe that he died on the cross for our sins, believe and ask the Lord for forgiveness and you shall be saved.

"For the wages of sin is death; But the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 6:23)

Turn your back on sin and live Holy in the sight of the Lord.

"Because it is written, be ye Holy; for I am Holy" (1 Peter 1:16)

Pray

Dear Jesus

I admit that I am a sinner deserving of Hell, I am guilty for breaking your holy commandments. I believe that you died on the cross to pay for my sins, were buried and bodily ressurected three days later. Please forgive me of my sins, write me in the book of life, Lord come and take over the throne of my life, I believe upon you as my personal savior. In Jesus Christ name.

Amen

Oopps sorry Blah Blah.. That's fair enough... :)

Oddly enough, I was veggie for around 3 years.. Religiously.

I think that makes you more 'spiritual' than religious Lou...pour yourself another one, hic!

Your group is superior to all others? Because that what it means to say that 'Jesus Christ is the only way to heaven'. If those signing up to your narrow doctrine will be rewarded with eternity in paradise, what are you suggesting happens to everyone else - hell?

Basically what you're saying is 'I am superior, I will be rewarded for my righteousness and anyone who disagrees is damned'. Think about that, is it really what you believe?

Goodness me I had a heavy one yesterday. Sorry for any stupid posts on here. I agree with the whole premise let people believe what they want freedom of choice to believe what you want etc. I do find organised religion too reliant on ancient 'facts' which do not adapt to scientific findings and changes in certain realities. I think there is a lot we do not know and will never know about why we are here on earth, but I don't personally believe religion can answer those questions.

My mums funeral was in a CoE church - but rather than let the Vicar take the service

she requested a lay person friend of hers - and they let that happen. So effectively

we used the church but brought her own people in.

That can be the case. But most people of faith are harmless. Food banks are provided by a faith based charities for example. As for those that take their beliefs to a level of fascism, then we are dealing with a psychology that would believe in just about anything that empowers their sense of importance. Most faith is culturally nurtured through childhood as we all know and that for me is where the line between a gentle moral philosophy (ie to be giving, do good etc) and the heavy indoctrination of false absolutes (creationism over evolution for example) is a fine one and should be monitored better than it is.

Good choice IMO JohnL. It's nice to have that spiritual element as a nod to what may or may not be beyond this life waiting for us, but equally that personal touch of letting a loved one or friend take the service is such a great tribute to the individual and a memory for everyone who's survived that person.

    • Hope all the ‘high streets for people’ events went well! Very short notice probably for people living in the area and on a very hot day!  James McAsh just doesn’t know what to do next with Southwark Council Tax payers money. He advocates the few streets in the area that has a bus service and then shuts the routes down! Very annoying for people who want to go about their daily business and have already had restrictions brought in by McAsh.
    • Thank goodness for Greg. I had an awful situation whereby I was notified that water was leaking from my flat into the flat below me. I was 150 miles away at the time and had a panicked journey home not knowing what I was going to face.   I called Greg (after seeing reviews on the forum) as soon as I arrived home in the evening and he arrived just after 10pm and was able to shut off the problem. He had to come back to finalise the job which turned out to be caused in a communal area whereby there was a blockage in the stack pipe.   Greg worked quickly, efficiently and informed me every step of the way as to what he was doing and why. He also cleaned up really well afterwards.  Greg's charges are very reasonable and he will definitely be my "go-to" if I have any other plumbing issues in the future.
