Andrew Marr can do it, why can't we?

In fact, I read with great interest the Times story 'Hamid Karzai says bring Taliban to table' and thought it deserved higher positioning. And then the lovely lady on Mr Marr's programme agreed.

And in a shocking confession, I admit to visiting News of the World online of a Sunday. It is a guilty pleasure and beats rolling it up discreetly inside the Times and Telegraph at the news agents. Today: Michael Jackson killer soon to be arrested. Marvellous!

What are the good people of East Dulwich (and hangers on in less desirable adjacent postcodes) reading?

I think swine flu is simply wonderful. In a land where average workers take something like 15 sick days on average per year, in addition to about 40 public holidays and leave, it gives the opportunity for an additional two weeks or more to stay away from the office, no questions asked!

Marvellous!

Well I would add that the elderly seem somehow immune to swine flu and, for the first time in recent memory, it is cool to be old!

Otherwise, The Telegraph had an interesting, hopeful article about getting around this ill conceived 50% tax rate. It is rubbish and will not accomplish anything, instead making things worse.

Also, NOTW speaks to the young chap who procured cocaine and prostitutes for the young royals. Who says the Royal Family do not spawn a cottage industry of small businesses?

The elderly are immune from the 1918 outbreak. So, although it's another 15 days off work for all the shirkers out there, it's only going to happen once in your lifetime.

I sincerely hope similar is available still because for many elderly their pet is their main source of comfort and company.
    • In a couple of places locally, I have come across this. I am fairly sure that they attempt to do the bill in their head. If you just say , “no, I think it’s x” they start again and get to an agreeable number, or find a calculator. I don’t think it’s a malicious attempt to swindle people. Just not great arithmetic.
    • There are excellent charities like the Greenwich Wildlife Network who will help if you report any concerns with local wildlife. Foxes are wonderful creatures who had been forced into our town and cities and are just doing their best to survive, we should take care of them when we can.
    • Like I thought… prob like that for most of the day.. especially after people had walked their dogs, with friends, relatives  kids…
