I always miss the one o'clock club at Peckham Rye as my son sleeps between 1 and 3pm when it's on but noticed the one at Crystal Palace does morning sessions. I noticed you have to pay and just wondered if it's worth the drive? Is the indoor area good if it's raining and also is it open over the next few weeks over the summer hols? Thanks, couldn't find that much info about it on the net.

It's brilliant. Easy parking in carpark next door, lovely facilities inc tea/coffee.. quite a big room with art activities, playhouse, baby corner. Very friendly staff. The outside is big, partly shady, nice equipment .. whole place has a very peaceful air to it.

Well worth the money.

Open over the hols but there will be u-8s there so bit noiser than usual I suspect!

Is this suitable for an older child? My son is 3.5 and we did pop by it on Tuesday morning but decided not to go in as it didn't seem that suitable for a boisterous boy of that age. Any ideas as I am keen to find somewhere on Tuesdays where he can burn off energy while I do something more sedate with my 10 month old.

Thanks

M

I take my 4 1/2 year old and 14 month old boys and both really enjoy. Probably not great to go when it's raining because it gets busy inside, but my 4 year old loves the outside bit, lots of space to run around, vehicles to drive etc, and he enjoys making things when they have the lego/sticklebricks out, or playdough. My younger one loves the freedom, he can roam around inside and out without me chasing after him, and it's one of the few places i actually get to sit down and drink a coffee, without having to get up and chase one of them. The mums there are really nice. Also has a nice baby corner for babies who aren't on the move yet.

    • The chancellor is exploring new opportunities (  and rightly so) for raising tax revenue in an endeavour to tackle the debt burden facing the nation. One think tank has floated the possibility of taxing  remittances  sent overseas by UK residents using a mix of formal channels  such as banks Western Union, MoneyGram, Wise and WorldRemit.  The proliferation of Western Union agencies has become notable in recent years. It is estimated that  around £28.5 billion was remitted to such countries as India, Pakistan, Nigeria and  countries in the Caribbean. Imposing such a tax could reduce capital outflows and result in greater investment here in the UK. The USA is introducing a tax at the rate of 1% effective 1/1/2026. Canada, Oman and Saudi Arabia are expected to follow suit.
    • I'm trying to be civil, see things from different perspectives and avoid arguments. The grey economy is cash in hand, so no tax to be paid, Chancellor loses out, we all win. Zero hrs contracts must be tough not knowing where or when the next work is coming from.  My position might not be great, but with a bit of sensible weekly shopping, stocking up on best buys etc. one survives and life ain't that bad.
    • I'm trying to find a venue for my daughter's 18th but it's really difficult. Most venues don't want 18th birthday parties. We were looking at Brockwell Hall (The newly refurbed big ol' house in the park) but they want 4.5k for a night which has to finish at 11pm. My daughter tells me her friends don't go out till 11 which I think may be an exageration but I get her point. I'm looking for a bar/club type venue where I can have a DJ till 1/2am and that's about it. Any ideas would be appreciated.
