Mobile internet connection device

My Mrs wants to use her laptop in Spain later in the month. I know there is a device which can assist this but can't for the life of me remember what it's called or how it works. Can anyone remind me of the name of the device?

Failing that (or even if you can get one), I'd suggest getting a mobile broadband dongle and then getting a Yoigo prepaid SIM card in Spain. ISTR they have a very reasonable data package.

3G card or a dongle.

Be careful, if you get it here data will probably be subject to the usual roaming charges, which on O2 are ?3mb. You might be better of buying one when you get to Spain.

Does any dongle work with any SIM? If so it might be worth playing with it on a UK SIM first.

(Assuming her laptop already works on WiFi) Many continental Hotels now have WiFi. I'd hazard a guess that even some multi-national coffee shops and pubs in Spain, like in London, also have WiFi. I'd do a search on the area you are visiting to see what WiFi is already available rather than simply a pricey dongle / card.

I am sure that You all know that it is possible to have free Internet via a special & easily available dongle and an Ifone sim card for a total outlay of abut ?15.

This will be for use in a rented house for the family holiday so no internet access as is available in hotels.
