I played my parents some Gryphon once , they seemed to enjoy that ... then Sound Sound Your Instruments Of Joy by The Watersons ... I suppose thats one example of how much The Sally Army has influenced me ... they seemed to like that ... my dad used to quite like The Beatles but lost interest when they got into "that transcendental meditation nonsense " as he used to put it

I made them a cassette of folk stuff to play in the car once , steeleye span , blowzabella ,richard and linda thompson etc took me f**kin hours , to my knowledge they never listened to it once ..... the silly chuffers :)

I don't recommend any music to my parents as they are both dead. However as a parent it has interested me that my son's interest in music has expanded from what seemed to be just loud noise to a variety of stuff including classical music and nothing to do with his parents influence. The other day I heard 'Moon River' playing in his room whilst he was on his computer. I've no idea where his influences are coming from.

As an aside, we i.e the family, contemplated ,albeit briefly, having 'Where's your Mama gone' played at my Mum's funeral.

Ended up with 'I did it my way' by Sinatra.

well I'm talking about years ago Declan , back when I was a yoof ... its funny you mentioned your sons taste changing as he's got older ... I can identify with that ... 15 years ago I was listening to stuff like The Orb ,Dub , and dance stuff ... these days I'm happy to make a cup of tea and listen to Bert Jansch .... folk has always been there though from an early age .... I can still cut a rug though ... oh yes guvnor !

Edited to say: Just like you do in the Song Game, cos you think nobody will notice :))

Can't be considered true till it's googled, can it.

Come on Sue (feelthe noize) we ALL know Dig A Pony!

I tried getting my Mum into Motown. She was racist. Oh dear.

Recently I realised I was listening and rather enjoying the beautiful tones of Matt Monroe.

Damn it.

As an old Soulboy I can tell you I was always staggered by how many soul fans were pretty racist
