Dear EDF Agony Auntie

Every time I read a headline, EDF thread title, or anything else, the first thing that comes into my head is the title or lyrics of a related song, and I blurt it out. The same thing happens whenever somebody says something to me. About anything at all.

People don't take me seriously any more. What can I do?

Wouldn't it have been better to have placed the eventual plea of "What can I do" on a final, seperate line?

For empthasis,like.

Hello OP. It's possible that you could be suffering slight attention span disorders, these are quite common and often enduced by stress. My advice is to consult the problem directly, tackle it with the fist and the fury of the North Star, and then you'll find your focus slowly returning.

sources: my ass.

Nah, it's more like I see the words Assisted Suicide, and I immediately think of all songs about suicide, or indeed any toon by the band Suicide. Then I see the thread about clowns, and immediately Send In The Clowns goes through my head. Which I hate. And then someone mentions the word 'holiday' and...

You get my drift.

My most frequent response to anything is 'There's a song..."

Does this make me OC/dork/geek/Asperger's? Or is there a more appropriate moniker?

So what's our condition, JoJo?

Do the doctors have a name for it?

Will it entitle us to invalidity benefit?

Can we be cured?

Or will it just continue to worsen as the years pass, leading ultimately to an inability to utter any expressions that are not composed entirely of song lyrics?

It's not just song lyrics neither... *starts over-excitedly sharing too much*

Advert jingles, they're the worst. Have been known to sub-consciously sing them out loud when confronted by said product in the supermarket. It's either the power of advertising or one too many late nights in my youth.

I have the same habit, wouldn't call it a problem.

Some years ago I had a boss named Ray, any time I was in his vicinity I could not help but hum 'it's A Shame About Ray' by The Lemonheads or even actually singing it. He never caught on though.

'Gotta See Jane' by R Dean Taylor, 'Judy Says She's Gonna Knock You In The Head' by The Vibrators 'Hurry Up Harry' by Sham 69 and 'Pamela Pamela' by Wayne Fontana & The Mindbenders make regular appearances on my mental jukebox through out the working day.

Helps me stay awake.

    • I believe there is a minor injuries department at Guys, though I may have misremembered. Not very convenient for SE22 now the 40 no longer goes near. You have to get 2 buses or a train. Charging people (not sure if you mean financially or legally) would waste a lot more time, I would have thought? And  a bad bruise could be serious, depending on the cause and possibly other symptoms.
    • Good news - parliamentary debate scheduled for 19 January! • Hey all, A month ago 2 black youths in ski masks/balaclavas on an electric bike tried to rob me where the old Poundland was on Lordship Lane. Last night, what seemed like the same two people tried to rob a Deliveroo driver by The Great Exhibition pub while I walked past. The driver swerved and nearly crashed, and they made off. Not sure what can actually be done about this, and if any residents have spoken to police. I can only implore people not to walk around with noise-cancelling headphones on..because sadly, you will get robbed.
