Northern Soul Legend. I'm afraid you are WAY off target, a novelty act derided by Northern Soul devotees.

I believe Keef and Brendan both like Pearl Jam. I used to like them a lot, but only a couple of their songs have really stood the test of time for me.

OK Chicory Tip not a great name but Son Of My Father was a great song.

Mama said to me, we gotta have your life run right

Off you go to school where you can learn the rules there right

Be just like your dabbling father when it seems tradition

Never go astray and stay an honest, loving son

Son of my father

Moulded, I was folded, I was free from draft

Son of my father

Commanded, I was branded in a plastic vac

Surrounded and confounded by statistic facts

Tried to get me in but I jumped out of my skin in time

I saw through their lies and read the alibi signs

So I left my home, I'm really on my own at last

Left the wrong path and separated from the past

Son of my father

Changing, rearranging into someone new

Son of my father

Collecting and selecting independent views

Knowing and I'm showing how the change is due

Son of my father

Moulded, I was folded, I was free from draft

Son of my father

Commanded, I was branded in a plastic vac ....

I mean if someone of the calibre and credibility of say Ceasefire had written these lyrics we'd be creaming our spandex strides over them.

"Commended I was stranded in a plactic vac".

Who amongst us hasn't been there?

They played at my brother-in-law's social club in Selsdon a while back, they're back back back by popular demend in the Autumn, so I've told the BIL to get me a ticket.

I'll be down the front row with my notebook and pencil.

I'll be filing my review under the name Nick Kan't.

Yeah I did. I was confusing them with Sonic Youth. Who aren?t what you?d call 70s but I think they were formed late 70s early 80s.

Although Jesus and Mary Chain were formed around then too I think.

*quietly collects sports bag and talcum powder, shuffles disconsolately away, picking listlessly at his high-waisted baggies*

JB, JB, do we live in a time when 'Good Grief Christina' is forgotten to popular culture?

Has it come to this?

Has it?

I saw the Bobby Gillespie era JAMC support Sonic Youth at Hammersmith Palais, must have been 1986 though, ish?

Band name though I always like Chaotic Dischord. More for the record names though to be fair - Very Fuc#ing Bad / Goat Fuc#ing Virgin Killerz From Hell, a great double album.

    • Ah sorry, it was comedy.
    • I have never used AI in my life. It's just notes from my forthcoming monograph on light industry in Dulwich and Camberwell 1879-1946 (dates chosen for obvious reasons).
    • Thank you, this really made me chuckle. It's like you met my brother as he would be the one taking more than his share. Plus the 'pikey' chutney is a winner. Unusual as in can't be identified??? Sadly I'm not the host otherwise I would definitely do that I regularly shop in the Cheese Block and am a fan. But as people have pointed out, there is no cheese shop that charges less based on bulk, so Aldi unusual cheeses may be what the familam receive! Yay, so I can get discounted mouse nibbled cheese still! Oooo, now I do love a Stinking Bishop. It actually offends my stepmum by it's stinkiness but luckily she is not one of the attendees at this particular gathering.  This is blooming genius. It's actually my partner who has the biggest issue with buying in plastic so I will have to hide the wrappers from him!
