Siduhe
Isn't that the same report we were discussing here? http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?5,1400405,1571161#msg-1571161 Or have TFL published something new? Edited to say - the above sounds a bit abrupt - genuine question if this was a new report - I can see now that it's the same one! Thanks for posting. JohnL
I'm disappointed in the spelling of disappointed :)A long way to go yet in that one - they may end up begging for the Camberwell-Peckham route. Jeremy
Shame the OKR route won't connect with Queens Road Peckham. E&C, OKR, QRP, NXG would have been a good little route. worldwiser
What a shocker. All their previous pronouncements on this made it quite clear which option was their preferred one. Let's leave tens of thousands of existing residents in tubeless, congested isolation and spend eye-watering amounts on infrastructure for neighbourhoods which don't even exist yet. Definitely the correct priority. This was Walworth Road's one hope for relief which will now never come. monkeylite
Camberwell is served by the well connected Denmark Hill and is a short walk from other stations. OKR has nothing. And there are tens of thousands of existing residents there as well.In an ideal world, there would be two new lines/extensions coming down both ways. But I can see why OKR would get the nod. JohnL
If they go OKR - It'll get canned - no champions. But London could have entirely changed by 2030 - we may have an entirely different system anyway.Edit: saying 2030 now means 2040 after all the delays IMHO. Lazero
There'll be plenty of money/ lobbying behind the OKR route - I noticed quite a few new developments going up when I last drove through that area. Some of them even reference the Bakerloo line in their promotional materials. There are also loads of businesses along the road that would love more traffic and will surely help to push for it. Earl Aelfheah
Public money only goes into areas where it can subsidise private developers unfortunately. ulitimately it'll enrich someone's property portfolio no end, but the taxpayers of Camberwell will still be stuck on a bus crawling up the Walworth Road. ????
If you remove "What works best for me, my commute and the value of my house". Then the OKR route makes sense in terms of encouraging development of new housing and helping to solve the housing crisis. Nigello
Camberwell/W Road is already helping to solve the problem of lack of housing: just look at the large developments as you go down from Camberwell Green. However, being part of the solution to that problem means adding to the one of transport because there will be hundreds more people wanting to get to and from their new homes. I really hope Camberwell does get some form of rail transport, being it "BR", Tube or Overground. I'm so longing for a faster option that I'd even settle for a guided bus.... Sweptwind
Camberwell and Peckham option is struggling. Bakerloo going down OKR to terminate at Lewisham by the sounds of it. Bromley Council unsupportive of the Hayes route. http://www.london-se1.co.uk/news/view/8569 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/76241-camberwell-bakerloo-extension-looking-unilkely/#findComment-936980 Share on other sites

I don't understand why the council haven't leveraged these new developments which are going up all along the Thameslink link running through Camberwell, to reopen the station? healey
Still not great for those heading directly north. It shouldn't be a case of either/or anyway. Both options should be built.monkeylite Wrote:-------------------------------------------------------> Camberwell is served by the well connected Denmark> Hill and is a short walk from other stations. healey
Interesting that they mention reopening Camberwell overground station. Useful, but doesn't really address the core issue of more direct access north to the Waterloo area.Sweptwind Wrote:-------------------------------------------------------> http://content.tfl.gov.uk/board-20151217-pt1-item0> 5-commissioner-report.pdf> > Page 38 refers to the Bakerloo Line extension.
