Does anyone know anything about the application procedure for school nurseries please and also how I can find out any information about hours - when we viewed goose green for reception places the headteacher mentioned something about longer nursery hours but I can't see anything on the website. Any info would be much appreciated. Thanks
As far as I'm aware Goose Green have now changed to doing full days instead of having a morning group and an afternoon group. I think this helps prepare them slightly more for the transition into reception class. I know a few kids who have been to GG and both them and their parents have been really happy.
Do you know what 'full days' are in this context please? I had a look on the website but I couldn't find anything. Do you know how this works re funded places as I understood the funding to be for 15 hours for 3 year olds at present?

A number of the school nurseries now offer a "full" day - so you can do 2.5 full days, or 5 half days using your 15 free hours. Goodrich (where my youngest attends nursery) offer a top up, where you pay to add extra hours for the week.

A full day is a school day, so (will very slightly from school to school) from 9 till 3/3:30ish.

The new Goose Green hours for nursery are 8.45-3.45 (they take a packed lunch) Monday & Tues, then 8.45-11.45 on Weds, for the first class. The second class do the reverse - so Weds afternoon, and then 8.45-3.45 for Thurs & Fri. I think as Pickle says Goodrich offer, that GG also offer top up for a fee.

My son has just started at GG nursery and he (and we) are really happy.

    • I don't think anyone wants people who need support not to have it.
    • Of course  The tests are very stringent and they look carefully at claimants for things like how easily they can get up from an armless chair, if they don't use the chair arms thats a black mark, can they walk More 20 yards without problems including breathlessness, pain or even if they need aids (again over 20 yards reduces their chances of claiming) and so on  Trust me, having been assessed a few times, its not easy or guarenteed to get or maintain PIP.  But yes, the whole what is claimed for should be reviewed bur let's not penalise those who need it.
    • Afternoon,   Does anyone have an Islabike 14 cnoc that their little one has grown out of and in need of a new home? I would prefer orange if possible or, failing that, blue or red.   Many thanks.    Michelle
