katietatie
As someone who is only now beginning to appreciate the lunacy that is a 10k run, I'm depending more and more on my trusty iPod to get me round my training. Personally, Wipeout by The Safaris and Don't stop me now by Queen help me to stumble along - what do the other ED runners listen to? RosieH
It's a cheesy disco number, but I find the 12" of Donna Summer's She Works Hard for the Money works a treat - 7 minutes of uptempo bliss. Possibly wouldn't work as well for the majority of the menfolk though Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/776-what-music-does-east-dulwich-run-to/#findComment-18916 Share on other sites
Nero
I love that record. Where do you get the 12" version? Never heard it. Nero Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/776-what-music-does-east-dulwich-run-to/#findComment-18920 Share on other sites
James
When I used to go to the gym in East Dulwich, Maneater by Nelly Furtado always made me pedal a bit faster. Glad to get that one off my chest! Ashamed to say it was on one of those crappy CDs that came free with a women's mag - something like "all women like disco and songs they can cry to" - but it's true and I'm not above a bit of cynical exploitation Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/776-what-music-does-east-dulwich-run-to/#findComment-18928 Share on other sites
Nero
Songs to cry to? Sod that, I skrike at adverts. WHY was she such a bitch to that Yakult man? :( Nero Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/776-what-music-does-east-dulwich-run-to/#findComment-18932 Share on other sites
RosieH
the geeky one who the mean girls laughed at in the cafe? I find the new Yakult adverts vaguely sinister - like the experiment nonsense on LostI once cried at a Tesco advert - when Jane Horrocks ran up the town hall steps a la Rocky. In my defence, I was desperately hungover Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/776-what-music-does-east-dulwich-run-to/#findComment-18938 Share on other sites
Keef
This reminds me of a "top 10 tunes to work out to" pole that I read a few years back... Can't remember them all, but Eye of the tiger, and Final Countdown were the top 2 >:D Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/776-what-music-does-east-dulwich-run-to/#findComment-19050 Share on other sites
RosieH
yes yes yes - I love Eye of the Tiger. People mock me, but it's an excellent work out tune. it's also good for shadow-boxing alone in front of the mirror with 80s hair and make up... mightyroar
I agree a bit of rock when you work out is great. I love a bit of Queens of the Stoneage when I'm trying to get to 10k. But i'm off to itunes to get me some she works hard for the money as that is one fine recommendation. Also I detect another Lost viewer! Exciting! should we start another thread to discuss the recent season finale? RosieH
Such pathos - "we're leaving together, but still it's farewell"sigh... I miss hair metalin a similar vein, although no good for running to, what about "Clouds Across the Moon" for another brilliant 80s sad tune in space?
