"BBW, shut up. That was a horrible post.

---------------------------------------

hear hear!!

BBW funny but wrong."

No Iain. As usual Moos was right to tell me off. It was a slipshod post and she was right to pull me up on it. Annaj and RosieH usually take over if Moos isn't keeping an eye on me.

I'll probably do it again though.

"Still waiting here people, how quick people are to criticise but i see noone with the courage of their convictions to think they can do better."

Do me a favour and put a sock in it will you Mockney. I couldn't care less about the drawing room for the simple reason being that it's boring and no fun at all, for me that is. I'm sticking to the lounge.

I have no doubt about that BBW. Still, glad to see you can take it on the chin when your being an A%$?hole and people tell you! Believe it or not I think that's worth a little respect.

:)-D

And what?s all this guff about the Chair being inconsistent or whatever. The Chair is just that, an individual overseeing and sometimes facilitating proceedings to their own standards. There are not a policeman with a tick box law-sheet.

What the fuck do people expect, a set of KPIs perhaps?

Just fucking deal and get on with it.

In fact I may just volunteer and start moving people?s post around and editing them inappropriately as punishment for whingeing.

I have less than no interest in BBW's moral worth or standards, and am extremely irritated to be characterised as some kind of aunty figure who keeps an eye on him. It is also incorrect to imply that a smirky Sorry Miss with a smug wink and a hey, I'm just a bad boy will make it OK. I will not be ignored, and I will not be patronised.

My interest is purely in keeping the forum a place where unpleasant racist and pornographic posts are considered unacceptable. Not because of political correctness or prudery, but in order to retain this forum as a place where everyone feels welcome and comfortable.

BBW, please edit your posts or I will report them and have them removed.

"BBW, please edit your posts or I will report them and have them removed."

Be my guest Moos. You may find this shocking to take in but on occasion I do take the trouble to edit some of my posts if I think that on the occasion I've gone too far.

You may find it irritating to be characterised as some sort of aunty figure but I'm afraid some of the blame for this label must be apportioned to yourself. By attempting to hush me or slap me down by bringing my youth into question such as "quiet/hush little pup", will undeniably brand you as some sort of matron figure.

That's all.

You misunderstand me, although I suppose I shouldn't be surprised.

I have no issue with my being older than you, but more that your post in response to my first today on this thread implied some kind of watching-over of your behaviour. I do not do that.

If you consider your post re: TLS to have been acceptable, and not worthy of editing I can only say I find that a shame. I have reported it. I continue to be extremely annoyed that I've been made to feel that I had to, I hate doing it.

I'm about to board the 12.38 train to London to spend the day with a slim, beautiful, 5' 11'' tall Lady who is a mere 30 years of age.

I think you can assume that my post from the 1st letter to the final full stop was,er, in "mirth"...:)-D

I never said I feel you have an issue in being older than me, it just get's a little tiring having my age and inexperience of the world being brought into question now and again. A tool you sometimes use against me although you're not the only one who does it.

I'm sorry if you feel that I see you as someone who is watching over me but you're one of those who often make their feelings known to me by indicating their displeasure of my behaviour. I'm sure that you can see why I feel that you're watching over me (and others) by making your feelings so clear and your follow up of reporting the post that has caused you displeasure.

You're entitled to your opinion but don't imply that I'm solely responsible in somehow forcing your hand in doing something you dislike. The choice is entirely yours although I sympathise with your reasons for doing so on occasion as I know that I can go too far but I'm not the only one.

well if she's not your daughter,Good luck to you sir, have one for me!!

"Do me a favour and put a sock in it will you Mockney."

as the forum's premier poster of irrelevence and inappropriacy (is that even a word?) I'm not sure you've earned the right to shut me up about it in a thread entitled 'drawing room yay or nay', not interestingly enough 'tony's dick' or even 'it's all about wolfie' though sometimes I wonder if that's the default aka of every thread in the lounge.

Although I found your statement regarding the strength of our convictions regarding someone popping their head above the parapet as a rather broad accusation of some sort of cowardice rather unnecessary as well as rude considering many of us (myself included) haven't made any criticism of the Chair or how s/he goes about moderating the Drawing room.

"I'm not sure you've earned the right to shut me up about it in a thread entitled 'drawing room yay or nay'."

Earned the right?

What, do I have to be privy to some sort of blessing or bestowal before I request that you pipe down or if I can voice an opinion.

    • Hey Sue, I was wrong - I don't think it would just be for foreign tourists. So yeah I assume that, if someone lives in Lewisham and wants to say the night in southwark, they'd pay a levy.  The hotels wouldn't need to vet anyone's address or passports - the levy is automatically added on top of the bill by every hotel / BnB / hostel and passed on to Southwark. So basically, you're paying an extra two quid a night, or whatever, to stay in this borough.  It's a great way to drive footfall... to the other London boroughs.  https://www.ukpropertyaccountants.co.uk/uk-tourist-tax-exploring-the-rise-of-visitor-levies-and-foreign-property-charges/
    • Pretty much, Sue, yeah. It's the perennial, knotty problem of imposing a tax and balancing that with the cost of collecting it.  The famous one was the dog licence - I think it was 37 1/2 pence when it was abolished, but the revenue didn't' come close to covering the administration costs. As much I'd love to have a Stasi patrolling the South Bank, looking for mullet haircuts, unshaven armpits, overly expressive hand movements and red Kicker shoes, I'm afraid your modern Continental is almost indistinguishable from your modern Londoner. That's Schengen for you. So you couldn't justify it from an ROI point of view, really. This scheme seems a pretty good idea, overall. It's not perfect, but it's cheap to implement and takes some tax burden off Southwark residents.   'The Man' has got wise to this. It's got bad juju now. If you're looking to rinse medium to large amounts of small denomination notes, there are far better ways. Please drop me a direct message if you'd like to discuss this matter further.   Kind Regards  Dave
    • "What's worse is that the perceived 20 billion black hole has increased to 30 billion in a year. Is there a risk that after 5 years it could be as high as 70 billion ???" Why is it perceived, Reeves is responsible for doubling the "black hole" to £20b through the public sector pay increases. You can't live beyond your means and when you try you go bankrupt pdq. In 4 yrs time if this Govt survives that long and the country doesn't go bust before then, in 2029 I dread to think the state the country will be in.  At least Sunak and co had inflation back to 2% with unemployment being stable and not rising.
    • He seemed to me to be fully immersed in the Jeremy Corbyn ethos of the Labour Party. I dint think that (and self describing as a Marxist) would have helped much when Labour was changed under Starmer. There was a purge of people as far left as him that he was lucky to survive once in my opinion.   Stuff like this heavy endorsement of Momentum and Corbyn. It doesn't wash with a party that is in actual government.   https://labourlist.org/2020/04/forward-momentum-weve-launched-to-change-it-from-the-bottom-up/
