Hi

I used a builder recommended off the forum, Dave 07932505589. I asked him to give me advice on a property I'm currently in the process of buying. The survey report came back as very damning but Dave fully checked the property and provided a very responsible quote for fixing the problem.

Thanks Miranda

Whatever you do go for a company that will guarantee it, without that the work is essentially worthless. We bought a place where they got their "mate builder" to do the damp proofing, it failed and they had no recourse so had to discount the house by the amount it was going to cost us to fix it.
Where is the damp? There are lots of people on here that have had experiences, so it might be worth mentioning it before calling in the professionals (I had varied experiences including a total fantasist). For instance I live on a hill and had a mystery spot. Turns out that my first floor next door neighbour had pierced a pipe leading to a radiator and a slow leak was coming into my chimney stack and underneath my kitchen floor.

Presumably road/pavement upkeep and renewal is as important for cyclists and pedestrians as motorists? I am not aware of plans to build new roads locally but there has been plenty of money spent on converting roads into pedestrian only areas. On the face of it this feels a slightly empty statement, when applied at local level. I'd love to know the Greens stance in hiring out parks for private use (given impact on park environment), I'd also like to understand their stance on fireworks- I will look to see if I can find anything. I don't know if a manifesto exists under the documents section of Southwark Greens, but you can only access that bit by signing in- which is disappointing. If anyone has a manifesto that reflects local priorities- could they post a link?
