It's not just the financial cost one has to consider but of course if we don't care about the environmental cost then by all means tumble dry to your heart's content....

I manage not to have washing hanging on radiators in the winter without a tumble dryer. One of those clothes horse dryer things (available from Farmers at a reasonable price) in an out of the way area sorts the washing needs of a family of four here.

Reading these comments about what you are paying for gas & electric makes me think my costs aren't too bad now!

If you don't care about the environment, then by all means watch Gogglebox and Downton Abbey. Or don't do any of the other million things you don't 'need' to that suck kWh. He who is without sin, Rodney..

The washing line is perfectly usable for quite a lot of the year. Not using a tumble dryer for the rest of the time is 'not' going to save the world.

no, it's one of those places with about six hundred cracks, air holes, drafts and dubious insulation.

I'm not a big fan of central heating on the whole and try to use it as little as possible. This way, of course, I can treat myself to some special electricity munching tumbling' fun without feeling too guilty.

A conspiracy perpetuated by wind farm manufacturers and purveyors of shit light bulbs - who dread the day when someone comes up with something that will make a real difference.

Don't worry, I'm not anti wind farms and of course have these products. But it's all just token pissing in the wind at the moment really.

I sit in the dark, with my pants whirring around in the tumble dryer

It's a worthwhile sacrifice *Bob*

I can't be looking at clothes on radiators either, reminds me of being a student/living in a shared house

No, no, no

Ugh clothes on radiators is rank but I hate using tumble dryers too. The clothes feel like they've been to the launderette which is another thread entirely.

I've got a brilliant, dare I say, stylish, wooden contraption+ from good old Dulwich DIY for the bargain price of ?27.99 that I hang clothes on once they've been out on the line. You should all try it.

Central heating before December. Pah. You're all a bunch of wimps.

+including new, never previously published, underwear and knitted tank top pics. Exclusive to the EDF.

    • As I understand it Charlie Smith did put himself forward for selection in GG but Labour members chose someone else to represent them, Liam McGrath https://southwarklabour.com/our-candidates/   It'll be interesting to see if there are other defections - surely the Greens want a drip, drip, drip of news from now to May suggesting the momentum is with them.
    • Thanks for your feedback - we always appreciate hearing from members about their experience. The pool temperature at JAGS Sports Club is maintained at 29oC, in line with industry guidelines for mixed-use pools.  This temperature has been designed to balance comfort for lane swimmers and families. Air temperature is also monitored regularly to ensure a comfortable environment for swimmers, spectators and staff. The shower Temperature Mixing Valves (TMVs) were changed in December to improve consistency, and we hope this has made a noticeable difference. If you would like to discuss your experience in more detail, please contact us directly at [email protected] or 020 8613 6500 and we'll be really happy to help.
    • One wonders if he would have defected if he had, ahem, held on to the leadership of Southwark and whether he felt that "Labour are no longer the vehicle for social justice" during his leadership election........my how quickly things change in the thoughts of a politician 😉 I think this sums things up quite nicely: A senior Southwark Labour spokesperson hit back: “Local residents can draw their own conclusions about Cllr McAsh’s swift move from Labour leadership hopeful to the Green Party, after he didn’t get his own way. While he’s thinking about his own career, Southwark Labour are delivering for residents.” One wonders if he will stand as a Green candidate in Goose Green.
    • No doubt if he determines to stand for a ward he will enlighten us - at least his track record is one of using this site to communicate (inter alia). I would suspect that (1) his personal views on traffic will have remained consistent but that (2) his views on local democracy and proper consultation will have as well.
