Imagine my excitement when I discovered that today the Mail on Sunday was printing an exclusive extract of the latest Dan Brown novel.

How to gauge its value and measure its worth against the free Smiths DVD given away by the Indie?

I found myself in quite the pickle - which, oh which to buy?

Yeah quids, what are you on about - OFM today, with extracts from the new Nigel Slater (I would imagine a far superior read to the extract from the Dan Brown, but as I don't actually enjoy bleeding eyes, couldn't tell you for certain).

Yay for me and my bleeding heart (if not eyes) - I bought the Indie AND the Observer - keeping the papers afloat single-handed (apart from that MacGabhann fella).

Unfortunately wolfie, I couldnae steal the DVD, as it's a send-away type offer. Also, my bleeding heart just wouldn't allow it. You and your stony Times-reading heart can keep your Shawshank (one of the best films of all time hyperbole nonsense!) I've already got it anyway.

Boy am I in high spirits this evening - even if I put my chicken in the oven really late and am only going to get a sandwich when Waking the Dead's nearly finished.

Oversharing, me?

Yes, I think so too - but I believe the Birthday Boy was talking about Dan Brown, so I concluded that SeanMac was misdirecting his ire.

But what do I know? I read trashy books, and enjoy them*.

*Yes, I know, cross me off, blah blah blah. Like I was going to get one anyway.

Rosie read me right, Moos read the situation right and I see quids meant Dan-o now

So I was wrong and an especially carefully crafted cardboard christmas c... no I can't alliterate any more - but quids is back on the list. Moos was never off it

    • I've looked up previous media coverage and gather that the school warned pupils of the risk of police 'fines' for assembly under the extant Covid regulations.  Don't you think they might have felt it a duty, to both pupils and parents, to do so?
    • I'm glad that Barry's have posted.  Their mention of the merger soon led me to (a) bushy-tailed  PR guff about the new member joining the inpost 'family' and promising a bright happy world of lockers etc ahead. and (b) clear signs that the same problems related here seem to have been current and widespread even three months ago.  That's just from looking at one thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/vinted/comments/1nlv3u2/yodelinpost_merger_issues/

    • Do we still get 50+ outdoor community events per year? All the ones round here seem to have been cancelled, like the Christmas Cracker and the summer equivalent and the Small Business Saturday event etc.  Even on the Southwark Presents page the only events in East Dulwich in the foreseeable future are non-council events organised by other people. https://www.southwark.gov.uk/southwark-presents?event_price=All&localgov_event_locality[0]=239&date_min=&date_max=&search=&page=2
