I know that Mockney and Brendan peruse this magnificent tome of venomous and funny reporting but who else does? I've been hooked on Private Eye since the invasion of Iraq and I've loved every minute of it.

My favorite sections are:

Hackwatch.

Eye TV.

HP source.

Street of shame.

Wikipedia whispers.

Every single part of the Newspaper parodies.

I'm being honest when I say that I've also learned a great deal about politics and government as well as lot of other serious issues and I genuinely believe that with all it's faults and libel cases, it's very cleverly written and gives many of the regular broadsheets a run for their money concerning The Eye's journalistic quality.

It's my Saturday treat. Big spliff after breakfast and I giggle and laugh well into the afternoon.

So come on fellow rubbishers, who else picks up The Eye?

Been reading it for 30 plus years, man and man.

Always read the cartoons first.

Then Street Of Shame/Hackwatch, Letters page, Square Eyes, Rotten Boroughs, HP Sauce and the book reviews/news.

I then saunter through the rest of it at my leisure.

I've read the city column once I think, which I think is once more than former editor Richard Ingrams ever did.

Nice respectable thread to celebrate your unbanning BBW.

Keep it up. (and no that is not a suggestion for a thread)

News then Street of Shame, Dumb Britain then Letters taking in Colemanballs.

Then just wander through the rest at random, some satire followed by northwest frontier say.

Crossword currently propped open on my desk wih a paltry five clues complete so far.

Best paper in the country by a err country mile.

My uncles told me it was at it's peak for them during the height of Spitting Image. I can see where they're coming from.

As Mockney once stated, The Eye should be required reading by all education authorities. It would eradicate text-speak and encourage literary prowess across the nation. Classroom pisstaking would also be far more inspiring and erudite.

I'm afraid after many years as a loyal reader it was one of several subscriptions I cancelled in a credit-crunch belt-tightening drive. I now find I'm also getting out of the habit of reading it regularly but my wife's happy as she was fed up with me spending too much time in my 'study' (aka the toilet).

Ooh I liked these...

Premieres of actor Michael Caine's Rocky he can't bring himself to recall(8)

Be a luvvie - drink is a pain in the arse (4,2)

they're actually textbook clues, it's just the eye gies for rather more flowery phrasing than other papers.

My colleague and I used to get weird looks on the tram in Amsterdam as we read them out loud and pondered the clues.

    • From tomorrow, 21st May at midday, Lord Biggar CBE, Regius Professor Emeritus of Moral & Pastoral Theology at Oxford University, talks with Chris Haydon and a small invited audience on PECKHAM PODCAST. This is the Professor who set out to draw up a balanced view of Empire and history but walked into a storm. "OMG, this is serious shit", said one Cambridge academic on hearing of Biggar's plan. Meet the man himself, unless of course you think this Regius Professor Emeritus should be cancelled still.

    • all this to say, and staying on topic, that the sunlit uplands are never coming, they never existed and the liars and frauds who pushed this poison on the country are being found out But to watch even tiny slivers of engagement with the  EU result in such weird, intemperate outbursts (have you SEEN the front pages of Mail/Express/Sun etc today?) show just how dysfunctional this country has become
