When is the earliest you can have a CHristmas fair?

I have seen signs today for 2 Christmas fairs in Dulwich on 7th November. I think that is too early. Surely end of November is the earliest. How can Father Christmas be around on November 7th??

What are these hawkers on??? What does everyone else think? ( am I getting old bar humbug!!)

6th December seems about right- but then then put they Regent Street Christmas lights on tonight..

People start celebrating in preparation for the Nativity (and have done for around 2000 years I assume) on Advent Sunday which is the 4th Sunday before Christmas. (29th of November this year).

Someone told me that as they were driving through Brixton on monday they saw a fully lit Christmas tree in a house window. We haven't even had Guy Fawkes yet!

Perhaps we should just keep them up all year and decorate them with whatever fits for the time of year like eggs, pancakes or little figures of fat bald men in garish swimming trunks.

It's the giveusyacash bandwagon. In America they start christmas in September and the octoberfest in July. They push the calender back each year. GIVEUSYADOSHYAMUGS.
