Hi all, long-time lurker, first-time poster etc - does anyone know of anywhere doing free Wi Fi in ED?

Had something urgent for work the other day (our home one is being installed) and did the majority of Lordship Lane. As it was before 12 EDT / The Rye had yet to open, Cafe Nero offers er, a ?4 for 45 mins service and Blue Mountain / the other place on Northcross don't offer it.

Ended up in Peckham Library on their painfully slow connection.

Alternatively, maybe you could post details of any unsecured networks on your road and I'll come round in the car? ; )

Ah, about the only place I didn't visit. Thanks.

I associate them with wine, which wasn't really doing it for me on Monday morning...

    • Thanks very much for that.   I think the better informed we are, the better our discussions will be. The article contained: "That arrest had quite an impact on the [phone theft] numbers for the following month,” said Green.  Here's another indicator, admittedly a piece of police PR,  of how well-targeted police efforts, mostly invisible to us,  can when successful  seriously affect offending figures: https://news.met.police.uk/news/met-police-drive-down-theft-and-robbery-by-84-percent-in-battersea-and-nine-elms-500495.
    • Another excellent article from Jim Waterson's London Centric reporting https://www.londoncentric.media/p/kitchen-foil-and-algerian-markets?utm_source=substack&utm_medium=email Interesting that there seem to be favoured and repeated routes for phone snatching for particular thieves.  Seems ED might be one of them ☹️
    • Anywhere near the Overground/Windrush due to its excellent transport links.  You will get larger place in SE23 for example that will give you enough spare cash for private school if that's what you really want but states schools generally good, reflecting the demographic  Easy to get to the bustling streets of East Dulwich but in ten years see what happens to Forest Hill centre.  The whole of the area is full of green spaces. Access to East Croydon for days out in the South Coast
