Why don't people write books?

Me too, it must be good, picked up by a major publisher after few rejections, a very decent advance and a print-run in the tens of thousands.

A signed copy from a local writer would make a good stocking present.

Beware of vanity publishing! That's where the publisher does the main body of work which you pay for, then they leave you with a number of books and the job of selling them. That's harder than it may seem.

My blog covers this very topic. Sales of London Babylon are jogging along especially after a chat with Robert Elms last week but I'm coming to the conclusion that going it alone is daft unless you've got endless free time and aren't prone to depression

Unfortunately that would require an interfacing of money with location of mouth.

Rest assured though that, somewhere, a giant printing plant, working 24/7 is still failing to meet demand for this literary goliath, whilst those who cannot write for shit can only quake with fear and wonder.
