Hi - I am having a little hiccup with my baker Ross order of self adhesive gems, foam shapes etc. I urgently need to get craft supplies for a Christmas fair that is running on Wednesday. Is there a shop in the area that I can get these from? I can drive. Your help is much appreciated. Thanks all!
If you can get to a Tiger, Poundland or The Works you could pick up some Christmas bits. I get all my crafty bits from them and the Lewisham Centre has all these under one roof (went there last week) and they had plenty but was going fast! The ELC (in Mothercare branches) sometimes has Christmas crafty bits in store but then again it's always pot luck on which store has what.
I agree re the Lewisham Tiger/ Poundland/ Works combo. I got some great bits for a children's craft club a couple of weeks ago. However, when I went Tuesday last week to top up, they had run out of a lot of stuff. Unless they have restocked since then, I think you might be safer going to Hobbycraft in Charlton. It's more expensive but will def have stuff you can use... The other place that might be worth trying on the way is Toys R Us on the Old Kent Rd. Again more expensive but they do have stickers and bits!
The sewing and craft superstore just by Tooting Bec station is great. It doesn't look much from the outside but it is like an Aladdin's cave inside and good prices. They have free parking next door. http://www.craftysewer.com/acatalog/Sewing_and_Craft_Superstore.html
I went to cowling and Wilcox (which was great, thanks everyone!) but still looking for stick on gems! Which poundland (or old whsmiths) please? In Sydenham? If I can get there this morning that would be fab. Thanks for all your help everyone!
Just to say a massive thanks to everyone for the suggestions. The day has been saved by C&M and the poundland (opposite boots on rye lane). The children enjoyed using an abundance of glitter foam shapes and gems on their Christmas decorations...thanks again...

    • This week's edition of The Briefing Room I found really useful and impressively informative on the training aspect.  David Aaronovitch has come a long way since his University Challenge day. 😉  It's available to hear online or download as mp3. https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m002n7wv In a few days time resident doctors -who used to be known as junior doctors - were meant to be going on strike. This would be the 14th strike by the doctors’ union since March 2023. The ostensible reason was pay but now the dispute may be over without more increases to salary levels. The Government has instead made an offer to do something about the other big issue for early career doctors - working conditions and specialist training places. David Aaronovitch and guests discuss what's going on and ask what the problem is with the way we in Britain train our doctors? Guests: Hugh Pym, BBC Health Editor Sir Andrew Goddard, Consultant Gastroenterologist Professor Martin McKee, Professor of European Public Health, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine Mark Dayan, Policy Analyst, Nuffield Trust. Presenter: David Aaronovitch Producers: Caroline Bayley, Kirsteen Knight, Cordelia Hemming Production Co-ordinator: Maria Ogundele Sound Engineers: Michael Regaard, Gareth Jones Editor: Richard Vadon
