New Daytime adult choir, lunch time, wednesdays, 192c Peckham rye. opposite the park.

Recommended Posts

Hi Folks. THe choir day has changed to a wednesday lunchtime at 12 50 at 192c peckham rye. It is still non audition and all are welcome. It should be fun and invigorating, we will be doing a selction of simple pop/rock/indie arrangements, folk tunes, light classical, and some of my stuff -written/arranged specially for amateur community choirs. And whats more they are now saying singing is great for your health (unless of course you are a choir leader, that is)..

The cost is 80 pounds for a 10 week term, or 10 pounds per session to drop in. Should you want a smaller nibble for this first term you could do 40 pounds for five weeks. But obviously with choirs it is nice if people can commit to a reasonable length of time so we can get good at some pieces, as we are all in it together so to speak.

Anyway, flyer attached.

It would be great if you could let me know ahead of time if you are thinking of coming along.

All the best.

yes it is Pippa.. Though we will be using simple music, even non readers find it helpful and I am happy to explain it. I also often have audio files of the parts that people can learn from, and we learn a lot of stuff by ear in the sessions.

Hi

I went along to this yesterday and it was great! Friendly group of people and some great tunes, without the need to read any music. Was a lovely way of breaking up the day working from home, would recommend.

Really enjoyable so far, although I doubt listening to me is helping anybody else's stress!

Dan is a great teacher, whatever your level of expertise. Happy with the gender ratio myself, but I suspect more male voices are required!

    • Hello! We are relocating abroad and so will be withdrawing our two children (ages 4 and 6) from St Dunstan’s College (Catford). If any family is considering enrolling children of a similar age, now would be an excellent opportunity—we’re required to pay full‑term fees unless the places are taken. Please get in touch if you’re interested or know someone who might be. Thank you!

    • Thanks for your reply. I’ve subscribed to Ancestry a few times in the past but felt I wasn’t using it enough to warrant keeping up the subscription.
    • Hi, I saw your post and just wanted to say that the incident you’re referring to did happen in the late 1980s at Dawson’s Heights. The person involved was named Carl Salawa, and he had just turned 18 years old at the time. Like you, I haven’t been able to find any news articles or official reports about it, If anyone remembers anything more about that time or incident, I’d really appreciate hearing about it. Thanks for sharing what you were told—it means a lot to know others remember.
